I just upgraded from 2.2.1 to 2.3.4 wow signal strength is great etc but I now need to root the phone but everything I tried does not seem to work.

I even tried to downgrading, that too not working I got failed error when I try to go back to 2.2.1 stock rom

Can anyone help on this, if so a step by step proccess on how I can root or downgrade this new version of 2.3.4 Android

your phone will be rooted already, root will be in new rom already, if you upgrade d. via some sort of recovery, cwm, Ra ect ,all you need to do is boot back into recovery and reflash the copy of your original rom you made before putting the new rom on your phone :-)

Root  Android 2.1 - 2.3.7:
1)Download *.rar, extract update.zip
2)Copy update.zip to SD-Card
3)Run Clockworkmod
4)Select to "apply update from sdcard"
5)Reboot, Root !
