2-3 things:
1) Have you tested them , do they use extra memory or battery consumption?
2) Its the usual "install ZIP from SDCard" through the recovery, right?
3) How it will affect the google contacts  - is the image resized or stored in the same size?

1. This is a minor modification of the original programs from Gr4
2. Use CWM
3. After synchronization by Google may be the problem, recommend for built-in contacts
