Hi all, I just wanted to tell you about a new app that I have released to the Android Market. The app will allow you to store your username's and passwords for the various websites that you may use on your phone, or just to keep them on you as a reference.

When you add a new entry into the phone, you can include items such as a company name, the web address (url) to the login page or home page, your username and your password. The password is safely stored inside the phones internal database and is encrypted using AES encryption. Once you have all of your logins added to the app you can then use them to either enter your username and password into the browser on your phone or view the password on screen if you need to see the password. The app does this in what I believe in a unique compared to other password manager apps available.

Most other password manager apps require you to keep on switching between the app and the browser and the username and password is visible on the screen. However, my version of the app fixes this issue by making use of the android notification bar and keeps the password hidden from view unless you explicitly want to view the password on screen. For example, when you press on a login you will be asked if you want to load the website, whether you choose yes or not, the username is copied to the devices clipboard and a notification is created in the notification bar. From the browser the username can now be pasted into the relevant field. You can drag down the notification bar and click on the notification created by the app which then copies the password to the devices clipboard without requiring switching from the browser and the app. This can then be pasted into the relevant field on the browser. This prevent users from seeing your password on the screen or if people are around you stops people from seeing you type your password into the device.

There are two versions of the app available on the market. There is a free version which provides all of the functionality required, and there is a second version which is Boardies Password Manager Pro. This version is an unlock so still requires the free version to be available, but this version unlocks extra features inside the app, at the moment this is DropBox synchronisation which all data is syncrhonised to your DropBox account in an encrypted file but there are other features going to be added in the near future.

The app can be found on the official android market by searching for Boardies Password Manager or by clicking here.
