Guest mikelete
I don't have an Acer Liquid Metal (yet :)), but i've done some research, and what I've found out is that photos and videos taken with this phone sometimes gets noisy or blurry (e.g. http://www.electroni...quid-metal.html). But then, I watched this video on Youtube, where one can see the diference between the stock Acer Camera App and the lgCameraPro App. In my opinion, images looks much clear and detailed with lgCameraPro. Anybody tried it? Is it possible that those blurry images are due to the stock camera app instead of a "bad" camera lens? Maybe this video was taken with Android 2.2, and now with Android 2.3 there is no such problem . Here's the link for the lgCamera app on the market, if you want to take a look: https://market.andro...pepper.lgCamera (you can download free version instead of Pro, since they have the same features). p.s.: Another thing I've noticed with that video, is that the sound is way better with lgCameraPro. Guest Smeelious
Well...the camera isn't going to win awards, even with the best software. Reading that review of the camera I have to agree 100%. A 3rd party camera app does help. Here is a pic using Camera 360 (and compressed to boot) Here is the same subject using the stock camera, uncompressed. (hard to compare, but the noise difference is still obvious) Edited November 25, 2011 by Smeelious
Guest mikelete
Wow, it seems unbelievable how using one camera app or another can make a difference. And it's good to know that not only lgCameraPro but Camera360 improve image quality. So thanks for those caps ;) Let's see if we can get more feedback from people using third party camera apps and find out which one (and which settings) gets the best image quality. By the way, knowing that third party camera apps are way better, in terms of image quality, than stock camera app, shouldn't developers replace it in their custom ROMs? Guest Ethernia85
Most of the quality of a picture is going to come down to the person taking it, rather than the quality of the camera in this particular phone, using different modes etc. In saying that, lgCamera is awesome, it's almost the first thing i install after a rom install. Another thing to note, is that i have found the inbuilt gallery to more often than not, blurr the pictures, with them looking much better on a pc/different viewer. Guest onesky
Maybe this video was taken with Android 2.2, and now with Android 2.3 there is no such problem . i made that video with the latest android 2.3.6 and i found the following improvements: H264 codec support with MPG4 recording formatAAC (Advanced Audio Codec) audio compressioncontinuos focus while recordingrecording bitrate controlcan use led during filming here also the picture comparisonAcer camera:original fileLG Camera Pro 6.1+original file in picture quality i found these improvements:better auto white balancepictures are less overexposedfocus options improved (auto, normal, macro, infinity, continuos) and at end, the video settings i suggest (note: i use a 10 class sd card and a i found that the bitrate should not excess 6mbps to avoid stuttering in HD; i tested that the max bitrate supported is 13mbps) video: Res: 1280 x 720 Encoder video: H.264 file video format: Mpeg4 Bitrate video: 6mbit (or lower to avoid stuttering) fps video: 30 audio: microphone Encoder audio: AAC You can even use the autofocus during recording but pay attention that indoor is quite useless because it needs too much time to go on focus, to the other hand, outdoor is quite ok (see video above). the AAC audio quality is stunning (especially compared to the acer app), but note you can't change any parameter (altought it seems it let you to do that), the audio is always recorded at 48Khz , 156kbps bitrate Edited December 22, 2011 by onesky
Guest mikelete
Wow, thank you onesky for coming here to share your experience with us and give us your impressions. That was the kind of info I was looking for. In two or three days I'll have my Liquid MT (I hope so) and it will be great not having to start from zero testing which camera settings and 3rd party apps are the best :)
Guest TropicalRooster
Onesky, Thank you for posting that info, I'd given up on the camera altogether on this phone. These settings and app so far have made it more usable.Cheers and take care.
Guest stonebear
LGcamera is giving me problems, sometimes it just freezes and even when it is working ok it won't use the flash, even when I have it set to force flash.
Guest onesky
to me, it freeze only if you have "autofocus before shot" set to ON and manually focus before shooting. Flash is working fine. (Gingerbread 2.3.6 acer) Edited December 22, 2011 by onesky

Flash is working fine. (Gingerbread 2.3.6 acer) I could well have had "autofocus before shot" selected and been focussing manually, but the flash issue was weird, it just would not work. However, I uninstalled it and re-downloaded and installed it again and it works now, lol. It is definitely some improvement on the standard camera.
