Guest Danny99
I have spent many, many, hours trying to root my HTC Desire. I have come close several times to throwing it at a brick wall. I have installed the Windows HBOOT drivers - http://unrevoked.com..._driver_install Exactly as described in this link. I have also downloaded the files from unrevoked http://unrevoked.com/#desire It basically never gets past the "waiting for device message" . I have also tried an app called z4 root but that doest work either. Has anyone got any ideas please? I mostly want to root and put a custom rom on that allows me to install onto the sd card. The internal storage on the desire is appalling. Edited November 28, 2011 by Danny99
Guest zaphodbeeb
Hi, make sure that you have the correct drivers installed. Unrevoked uses a modified driver. I regularly have this problem if I have to re root. This works for me: - uninstall htc drivers - uninstall htc drivers - restart your pc - download the modified drivers - install - restart your pc - try unrevoked. Guest BashyUK
Just d/l the latest htc sync, uninstall the s/w, but leave the usb drivers then run Unrevoked... You might not want to go down the road of Custom ROMs if you're struggling there tbh...it's not for everyone. I'll give you 20 for it :-p I have spent many, many, hours trying to root my HTC Desire.
