I can't seem to get the power&volume- combo to work. I get a glimpse of the Recovery menu, then it boots as normal. Wonder if it has to do with having installed it via Rom Manager. It could be a problem if I got a bootloop, but otherwise no biggie. Maybe adb could work in that case?

I had this too, I had to quickly release the buttons when the recovery menu comes up.

You're holding the buttons too long, release them when you get to the blue tinted LG logo.

Volume down you can hold all the time, just release power after 3-4 seconds. Because if you release the power after CWM is shown, first in the menu is Reboot now and you confirm it with that.

got it, thanks. I'm supporting the phone for my sister who's in a different country, so I have to avoid the event were I have to call her up and say, "ok, borrow a windows machine and install nvflash... "
