In terms of playing, the best one is the Atomic 2.0. And about the error.... being root doesn't affect flashing a custom ROM, so it has to be maybe for another reason. Try again.

Isn't ROM Manager installed as part of CM7 ?

I've got ROM manager installed - I didn't install it, also there's no uninstall feature for it.

Seems a bit strange to bundle it in if it can't be used ??

Edit: I'm pretty sure I used it, too

Yes, it is installed with all unmodified cm7 installations and ports, and is uninstallable by normal methods as it is on the system partition (so removal would require titanium backup or root explorer etc).

What did you use it for? There's no way you could have updated cwm with it as it doesn't support skate (it would just make the phone bootloop), and it has no roms on there to download to the Skate.

Not evenhalf of the people who join know what rooting actually is. When i joined i had to search and read for 2 days before doing anything. And after reading 2 days i even understood less about it.

Most people just want to change their ROM, and think they need to be rooted first. If you should ask them: What is rooting, they'd say its something you have to do before you can change your ROM. They are not interested in having their stock ROM with super user... They just want a good ROM like Atomic or Cyangenmod, like I did.

I wasn’t any different that’s why i made the noob proof tutorial. But people don’t seem to read it. Is it still to difficult, or is there something important missing? I guess i will be adding superboot today so its "complete"

So just to be clear, you need to flashclockworkmod manually not trough ROM manager.

That's pretty much my experience, I read everything for a couple of days (took 3 days to get USB drivers to work, so I had plenty of time to read up) and after I'd read everything, it was as clear as mud.

One option might be, instead of just pointing out a common misconception, actually explain why ?

I installed unlocked and installed CM7 by following a 'how to', though I didn't understand it properly, I just followed it - though I did leave out a step that seemed unnecessary - I asked if I could do this but got no reply.

I still only have basic understanding, but (correct me if I'm wrong) I've rooted mine as I believe I needed to do this to be able to use titanium back up ?

It's a steep learning curve for newbies and what is obvious to people who already know it isn't necessarily intuitive....

Many thanks to everyone for the ROMs, instructions, threads etc

Good job biggrin.gif

It would help if a mod stickies your topic, what could be better than a single all encompassing thread with everything the beginners need? Perhaps you could ask Paul or flibblesan if they could sticky it.

I totally agree! Wacky.ddw's guide is really a "read this first" one and should be stickied. You can't blame any new member for not browsing to all the topics on the first two pages if there are already some threads stickied (but only really valuable for power users or users with previous blade experience in my opinion) but if the most important one for most users is not stickied at all...

That's the main reason why I link to it in my signature but a sticky would be really deserved for wacky.ddw's consolidation!

I didn't know titanium could uninstall it.

It's now uninstalled smile.gif

Thanks guys, I’ve send Paul a PM I hope he responds I’m sure he is a very busy man.

Does anyone know how to do superboot on 2.3.5 and higher? What files touse, then I will add it to the tutorial to. Because in my opinion there are only 2 things missing. How to do superboot and how to TPT's but i never did those myself.

And maybe unlocking but there allready is a very good tutorial about that.

Rooting using superboot on 2.3.5 stock is exactly the same as the 2.3.4 method, it just requires a different superboot file (check the main thread for johnny hung 2.3.5 superboot).

Yea thanks figured that out allready, the johnny hung package has all files needed for the tutorial, so i changed the clockworkmod part and pictures. And added superboot part. Its part 4
