Hi,

I got a used ZTE blade (orange san francisco) from ebay and it seems like the GPS is not working.

It came with cm7.1 installed and now I tried the Swedish snow RLS 3, but still the GPS is not working (tried gps test, tools, gmaps etc.).
No gps fix/satellites..

Also tried the SS-RLS stock kernel, but didn't help.

Any ideas, how I can check if the hardware is working?

Flash back to original rom?

Thanks in advance
Ben

Mine is working pretty fine with Swedish Snow.
I had some issues when I had Swedish Spring on my phone and fixed with FasterFix https://market.andro...mFzdGVyRml4Il0.
I did install it on Swedish Snow too and run the fix, but I can't tell if it was needed cuz it was working fine even before the fix.
Anyway, give it a try., hope it helps.

Thanks... already installed the faster fix.. doesn't seem to help.

How long do you wait for a fix?

PS: Just installed the SS RLS4.. will try it outside later.. let's see.

Gps will take a while to fix, either on a new phone, or when the phone has moved a significant distance from where the gps was last used as it will look to where it thinks the satellites should be, instead of performing a full search each time, so in general use, this provides a quicker satellite lock each time you use it. You will see this happen with a dedicated gps device also, if you turn it off, then drive a distance before switching it on again.

I would turn on gps and maps before going out in the car or going shopping etc so you have access to a clear unobstructed sky and just leave it in your pocket to do its thing. Also enabling wifi helps. Also check the location settings, to make sure that some Google services which require location tracking arent disabled. It should be in location and security settings.

It takes a couple of mins with Google Maps with wifi on (agps), but it's definitely faster with other apps.
Sygic navigator is maybe the worst in getting a fix, but it usually get it in a 1 min max and it never loose it.
Sports apps like SportsTrackerPro, Sports Track and Endomondo are the fastest, just some secs to get a fix.
As Davidoff59 suggested, I usually start my gps some time before getting out in clear sky view.
If you want super fast fix and top accuracy get a usb external gps, it's small and it works way better than the one you have in your phone.

Hmm ok... thanks. I think it looks like my GPS is broken. But will probably never know.

Did try it on different Roms and waited a long time to get a fix. :-(

One last thing:

Is there any way of checking if the GPS is broken (hardware problem)?

Thanks
