XDA Senior Member lowveld has developed a launcher called FTL Launcher, or Faster Than Light Launcher. The launcher is fast and focuses on performance and usability rather than other features.

Original Developer xda link :  XDA Link

The Faster Than Light Launcher.

Make no mistake, this is the fastest launcher you'll ever run. Small, light, configurable. The Gingerbread launcher as it should have been. No useless stuff, no compromises. Performance and usability are the driving forces here.

There are currently two versions, one light and one paid. This thread is of course about the free Lite version.

This Lite version has some of the configurable options pre-loaded and cannot be changed. That's the only limitation, performance or user experience are in no other way impaired

New stable release V1.3.0, for MDPI/HDPI/qHD devices on market. Froyo support also, but experimental!

UPDATE:

New in V1.2.0/V1.3.0:

- You can now configure anything from 1 to 9 homescreens (lite version only 3 to 5)
- You can can now choose which is the default screen (avoiding having to rearrange everything) - (full version only)
- You can now choose between 3D accelerated drawer and 2D normal drawer
- You can configure swipe-up to open drawer
- You can configure swipe-down to pull notification bar (full version only)
- Note that for Homescreen count, default homescreen and drawer type, you have to restart launcher to take effect!

Please do not mirror the apk, as the developer does not want so.

CM7.2 Unofficial May 22nd.

Try a thing you haven’t done three times. Once, to get over the fear of doing it. Twice, to learn how to do it. And a third time, to figure out whether you like it or not.

Amazing, it's light weight and fast, even with several widgets on  desktop ; in such a case, there is a very small lag, but  far less than I had with Zeam.

I love light and fast, but does the launcher has an save / restore feature to save / restore desktop/folder content - i like that much on GOLauncherEX if i test new roms (wipe)

Sounds great!

ZTE Porting Tool

Ever wondered how to Port ROMs from one Phone to another? Well it isn't that easy if you do it manually. But, luckily, there is a simple tool, which makes it easy for you to port ROMs. Curious?

I just compared that to the stock Gingerbread launcher quickly - FTL doesn't really feel faster to me. Well, in the apps drawer gesture scrolling is not 1:1 - moving the finger by 1cm scrolls the drawer by 1.3cm or something - but that's merely a psycho trick ;) . There might be actual speed/performance tweaks but they are not that visible. Then again the standard Gingerbread launcher is already pretty fast, even on the Blade.

The standard Gingerbread launcher also features wallpaper scrolling which in FTL you have to pay for.
