All the firmware update tutorials state that a user should do a backup before installing the firmware. Usually a full reset is recommended, which wipes your data, etc. so you want a backup, right?
But none of them really describe what a good backup would be.
- Is there a generic "back up your phone data, apps, widgets and do-dad's" tutorial out there?
- Is there really a backup app that I can use that will save ALL my user data, and ALL the apps and their settings? Will it actually recover everything?
Usually, when I do any kind of major update, I wipe the phone and just start from scratch afterwards, which is a BIG pain... It's an ever bigger pain when updating the wife's tablet or the daughters phone.
What should someone be doing to minimize the impact of a major update?
