I just tested to create an ext3 Partition (with CWM) and moved all Apps and App-Data into it with S2E
it works very well and is as fast as it was in the internal memory, but  could it be more fast if i change my SD card from class4 to class10?

in Antutu i get 4MB/s write and 8MB/s read
which SD Card is the fastest?

we could start with comparing our Cards in the Blade and see which card is the fastest and what is the limit of our internal card reader!

Funnily enough I was testing a couple of cards this morning with AnTuTu.

These are average results over 5 results


1. Sandisk Class4 16GB // 8.3 / 4.0 // (emc02)
2. Unbranded Class 4  8 GB <Play.com>  // 9.5 / 7.3 // (urbanfrit)
3. Transcend Class 6  8GB //  15.9 / 11.0 // (urbanfrit)

Well I have a new card which is a AData 8gb class 6. Antutu says It pushes out Write: 11,6mb Read: 14.9mb. I use sd speed increase though...

I tested SD speed increase this morning with AnTuTu and my 8GB Transcend Class 6.

There was no speed increase with SD speed increase.

I don't know if there's any difference in day to day use though.

I tested the app too and there is no measureable speed increase (with my class4 SanDisk card)

i ran the test a couple of times with my unbranded class 10 card so i might do it a few more times to get a better average although it doesn't seem to be as good as transcend class 6 from urban frit

what real world use is there for such fast cards in a blade given that high speed cards were developed for high speed cameras and HD camcorders.

My interest is in photography so I can see the point in having a fast card to support burst mode photography so is it a bit of overkill in the blade?

Most of us use SD for App2sd. Slow card would mean slow apps. We compensate the slowdown of App2sd by using fast cards. Had a class4 now class6 and I can say the phone is snappier and loading times are less for apps.
