When you install an app you usually have to allow it access to your contacts and alsorts of stuff.

Is there a way of stopping the apps from sending back info to the software creator / app owner?

Thanks
Richard

Two options that I know of are to use LBE security privacy (market), and pdroid (xda-developers and market).  Both work in slightly different ways but can be used together.  Both are root apps.

LBE runs as a service and lets you choose to allow or disallow an app from accessing contacts, sim info, imei, internet etc.

pdroid is a mod to your rom, together with an app allows control of imei, sim info, contacts etc.

LBE is easier to set up, pdroid is more robust.

edit: actually I think pdroid doesnt use root access, but since its a mod to the rom it has root-like access anyway

edit: *LBE privacy guard (well spotted aaujt74)

CM7 has built in functionality for doing that too should be using that rom.

My Blade site - includes vanilla KANGS's of CM7.  Also available: modified GB Gapps with various market versions, mini ICS Gapps for 160mb system partitions and Flash for ARMv6

Tried LBE but found it was blocking sms ??

I'm waiting for a stable ICS to flash to and will then relook at LBE or another :)

At least you know that its working.  You have to set LBE to allow sms sending for the app in question.
