The PF200 looks like a really good (and proper) upgrade.
4.3", dual core cpu...
the only unknowns are the gpu, RAM capacity and price.

I'm hoping that it will be priced below £200... in the ZTE Skate range for example.

We can all hope :P

I think maybe £250 at launch, coming down to maybe 200 over time. It's interesting considering Zte's other devices are low end, the pricing on a high end device is harder to predict.

If you're wondering what so special about that, so far the phones made with the Tegra 2 processor had to rely on modems from other companies, such as Qualcomm. Last year, Nvidia acquired Icera who also make modems for smartphones. This allows them to use their own modems in phones powered by their processors and the ZTE Mimosa X is the first phone to do so.
Other than that the Mimosa X is a typical upper mid-range smartphone, with a qHD display, 5 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, 4GB memory, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. For any further information, we will have to wait for MWC next week. The phone will be launched in Q2, 2012.

Well, Mimosa X seems really interesting. Especially that it is speculated to be priced about 150-200$ (however it would seem suprisingly cheap to me).

The only disadvantage for me is 4.3'' screen (I prefer range 3.5-4.0'' rather then bigger ones). After using blade I have some wishes (louder speaker, no LED quirk, etc.), but unless there's something wrong with it, Mimosa X can be a very interesting phone.

According to ZTE more phones will be announced next week,  http://wwwen.zte.com...223_287683.html

Quote

23 February 2012, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global  provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, will  next week announce a significant extension of its Smart Terminal  capabilities – both in its product range and routes to market – including a major new quad-core flagship handset.

ZTE will unveil eight new devices, delivering  significant advances in power, high definition multimedia capabilities  and design.  Based on technology innovations including multi-core  chipsets, LTE, 4G radio and the latest Android and Windows Mobile  platforms, the new devices form a core component of ZTE’s ambition to  become a top three handset provider by 2015.

On the infrastructure side, ZTE will be demonstrating a wide range of application scenarios covering LTE/LTE-A, smart networks and cloud computing.

“There is no doubt that this year’s Mobile World  Congress will again see some exciting device launches. The new devices  from ZTE will demonstrate how ZTE is without doubt among an elite group  of handset providers as next generation telecommunications networks  roll out globally. ZTE returns at least ten percent of its revenues  back into R&D to ensure that it sustains its position as a true  market innovator – and we’re counting down to being able to showcase  this to the world’s mobile industry next week,” said Mr. He Shiyou, Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminals Division at ZTE.

The devices will be officially unveiled in a press  conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday 27th  February at 10:30 CET. The new devices, together with a comprehensive  portfolio of ZTE terminals, will be on display at the ZTE booth in Hall  8, stand B145.

Well, my Blade is broken anyway... guess they release this quickly and I'll get one instead of a new lense for my camera

Totally disagree! Have you actually used a phone with a 4.3" screen? So much easier to read, type & browse. My next phone will have a big screen, & no going back! The Samsung Note is another matter though, that's just ridiculous.

Galaxy Note is great. When I saw it and used it for an hour I loved it. My Blade looked like a microbe :D Maybe I loved because it has 3x the processing power than Blade lol.

will never buy a ZTE phone again.. bad quality (speaker got badword after 4 months!), awful sources for devs.

as unfortunate as it may sound it's better to have a better build phone with good sources from company like Samsung than to be sorry..

I bought my Blade mostly because of the screen size, and have to say that I am happy with the performance (new ROM and CPU overclock later), hopefully the next gen handsets will be competitively priced to compete with other "prestige" brands such as Samsung which would be more recognisable to "the average Joe" - failing to get the price right will lose a lot of potential sales.

As for Orange, I dare say they will pad the ROM out with enough junk to semi-cripple the processor and yes, it will undoubtedly be given a new name to make it look more exclusive.  My main concern is that the list of fashionable city names is rapidly dwindling and if we are not careful we will end up walking down the road with a Skegness in our pockets....

Do we reckon this is the Quad-Core Era? (Which according to Techradar, is the "HTC Era" (but still manufactured by Zte, of course).
I think that will be more like £300 :P

Yeah, that's possible given that it's Tegra 3 and all...
But if ZTE wants to present itself as a proper competition, then they would have to lower the prices so that they would be a more attractive option compared to the others.
If all those phones would be prices within the same range, then there's no point.

I wonder how much of a deal Intel will give Orange for this one?

http://www.anandtech...ame-santa-clara

Intel are looking to work their way into smartphones/tablets and I can see them selling this device off cheaply to gain market share. It will be interesting to see how battery life and software support will be with the new Atom-based SoCs.

Intel have announced a partnership with ZTE:

http://www.anandtech...ships-announced

Hmmm. Perhaps we will see ZTE in an Orange phone once again? I wonder if ZTE will be manufacturing the Intel reference design which Orange have already announced they will sell under their own brand?

Would make some sense.

No use to Blade users, of course, as it is a different architecture so there won't be any spillover from the ROMs, but I wonder if this will become the next great-value Orange phone? If so, let's hope it is as hackable as the Blade/SF!

Seems that Intel phones will be our best budget buy next year. Everyone makes new products cheap, so therse will be buyers. I am waiting for Orange Santa Carla and If it will cost in a 100£ range, this will be a bomb.
