Been messing around with this phone and different roms and it seems I have to be in complete darkness for the buttons to light up.

Is there any way to change the thresholds? I've tried looking for a hardware_conf file but that doesnt seem to be living anywhere on my phone.

Have tried a few market apps one of which was supposed to put button lights on when screen on but they would come on and off randomly with the phone asleep!

Not a show stopper but I would like to understand how to sort it

Details of that is in the flibblesan rom thread. He made that rom with higher sensitivity, plus gave info for you to tweak it yourself.

Thanks for that I'm using fish n chips so didn't spot all that and neglected to use the search doh.  

Looks like its not something that can be done on the fly might have a go at tweaking it anyway.
