[CM9] Cyanogenmod 9 for Liquid/LiquidE

CM9 RC1 rom by Liquid-WAG-Team

How to Install:

Be sure you've already installed TWRP or CWM recovery (read 2nd post to install one of them).

CM9 users:

• Open GooManager app:

• Choose "Browse compatible ROMs" from GooManager.

• Browse to "thepasto/CM9" folder and select "cm-9-20121003-UNOFFICIAL-salsa.zip", Click on "Begin download".

• Select "Download gapps package".

• Now reboot to recovery and flash above download packages, or use "Flash Roms" option from GooManager.

NOTE1: File downloaded form GooManager app are located in /sdcard/goomanager forlder.
NOTE2: Installation process in recovery could take a bit. Just wait When installation is finished, select wipe dalvick-cache.

Other Roms:

• Download Rom file and Gapps

• Reboot in recovery

• Make a wipe-all/factory reset

• Flash both files

• Reboot

INSTALL TWRP Recovery:

Be sure you're running cm7.2 or Cm9 rom.

• Open GooManager [Market] [Apk].

• Click menu button, and select "Install OpenRecoveryScript" and answer yes to the questions.

• Wait for installation end. You've touch recovery automatically working

HOW TO INSTALL CWM Recovery [!!Read Carefully!!]

• Install CWM Recovery needed for new partition layout [REQUIRED]
  
  • Download CWM acer Liquid Recovery pakage and unzip it
    
  • Run the installer script for your O.S.

• Boot in Recovery Mode [Don't skip this steps are relly required to get new partition layout working as well]
  
  • A1 owners (256mb ram) necessarily require a SWAP partition, an EXT partition is also suggested for both liquid models
    
  • if you don't have one create it:
    
  • choose Advanced option in recovery menu
    
  • select Partition SD Card
    
  • choose your prefercences and wait for partion process end

• Wipe ALL [IMPORTANT]
  
  • select wipe data/factory reset
    
  • select wipe cache partition
    
  • Flash new rom

CWM Recovery : [Mediafire][Gdrive]

(select File->Download)

Notification LEDS fix:

Go to settings->Display->Pulse notification light

Check Pulse notification light and Use custom values options:

Default : white color (default)
Missed call: choose a color different from white
Voice mail: choose a color different from white and different from the one you set above.

BETA1 :

• Download cm9 archive for your device and push it to your sdcard
  
• Select Install zip from sdcard
  
• Choose cm9 archive and wait for installation end
  
• Select reboot system now

• ENJOY your CM9

First boot can take a while up to 5mins.

Advices:

• Enable SWAP: Install a2sd script it's an easy way to get it working.
  
• Data not working:open with root explorer your /system/build.prop file you should find a line like this:

ro.telephony.ril.v3[/font]=skipbrokendatacall,signalstrength,datacall

edit it, removing datacall parameter. so it should be like this:

ro.telephony.ril.v3=skipbrokendatacall,signalstrength

save your build.prop and reboot.

• Mass Storage in Recovery Mode: Best way to use it, is using adb. Mount your sdcard (mounts and storage->mount /sdcard).

adb push SOMEFILE /sdcard/

• BootLoop on first Boot: It's a common problem on a1 (256mb ram) device. To solve just be sure you've enabled SWAP. Boot rom with opengl enabled requires a big amount of ram. After boot you should have about 50mb free ram. So it's really needed only to boot your device.
  
• Fastboot usage: A1 (256mb) owners can't flash no more system.img via fastboot. New layout partition could make your device unbootable.

Important:

Differences between LiquidA1 and LiquidE roms: We are sorry to use two different roms atm.. But a1 needs more tweaks to run ICS, about dalvik vm and other stuff, we will merge two project that maybe in next release patching installer script. Anyway rom is pretty the same, kernel is the same (for now), so don't worry about that.

Please remember it's an under-development rom, so it needs still a lot of work to be really ready for a daily usage, and with all hardware working. We're working hard to get that.
And please don't report bugs about already known not working stuffs.

Tips:

A1 (256mb) random hangs fix [thx RomzesRover]:

i think this should be clarified.

Liquid E (512mb ram) users can use this new recovery to flash older roms or restore nandroids.

Liquid A1 (256mb ram) HAVE TO reflash malez recovery to install gb/froyo roms and manage bckps.

you need to install malez to restore your old nandroid. If you'll install new gb rom from scratch in CWM recovery you don't need malez, and you can use new parition layout with old roms too.
To create swap your sd will be formatted like malez recovery does

I'd love to try it, but this line is scaring me a bit:

Does this mean installing this rom on my A1 can potentially brick the device? Or is it always possible to just reflash a full clean bin with Acer Download Tool? I don't understand what you mean by "unbootable"...
Other than that, eager to try this rom, you guys are GODS!

Curiosity: you don't mention LEDs in your working/non working list, any info on those?
Anyway, will flash as soon as I read confirmation that there's no risk of bricking... can't wait!

That line means only if you're compiling a rom and you'll get a system.img for liquidA1 don't flash it via fastboot. use a zip installer. NO RISK ABOUT BRICKS. You can use ADT everytime you need to restore your phone. It's only a kernel mod so no risk

I should add that at the Liquid A1 due to hardware acceleration may hang a standard browser or the whole system hang when using the Rotate in what is heavy applications or the simultaneous use of multiple heavy applications.

away add that when you turn compcache (18%) and tick the "Allow purging of assets"
greatly reduced the possibility that the phone freez .. (well, I then do not freezes) for 256 liquid

The link to download Gapps doesn't  work. I really need it to recover my phone numbers from my google account.
And another issue i can't get data network to work.
Besides of that tis rom is very good.

Edit: Ok link works now I've downloaded the gapps only problem now is that is seems that I am unable to enable my device as usb storage , it says that it is connected but it doesn't show up.
So that makes me unable to put the gapps file on my sd card to flash it.
