Guest Victor von Zeppelin
In Google’s recent spring clean out of all their little apps and services, the clever little App Inventor was dumped and made open source. MIT stepped in and said they would begin hosting the product back in January and now it has gone live (again). For those not in the know, the App Inventor is a development environment for Android that tries to make the process a lot easier for beginners (like me). It strips out things like setting up Eclipse and learning a lot of Java, but still allows you to piece together a basic functioning app. The app can then be sent directly to your phone, or downloaded to your PC. While there are tools out there like Andromo that can put together nice apps, with the App Inventor you do feel like you have more control over what you can produce. It’s almost like “my first development kit”. Try out App Inventor at the MIT site: here This item was promoted to the News page - click here to view.
