Taking the risk...

I'm finally bored of my SF2 stock rom and the restrictions are starting to get on my nerves, especially when coming from a Samsung I5500 with CM7.

So, I've decided I will root, flash Clockwork Recovery and shove a custom rom on sometime this week but before I do...

I've read most if not all the threads so I know the risks, I'm relatively new to flashing roms etc as the only flashing I've done is with Odin which is obviously a completely different and much easier process.

The drivers for the phone are already on my laptop so would it just be as simply as running the two commands in the tutorial and then my device is rooted with Clockwork?

How stable is the latest Fish n Chips rom- is it suitable for daily use; texting, calls, 3g, wifi etc?

Is there any video tutorials out there yet? I prefer watching someone do it than just copying but it isn't that much of a big deal.

Finally; how easy would it be to go back to the stock branded orange rom?

Are there any known errors and major problems when rooting and flashing CWM using ADB that I should be aware of? If so- how do you fix them? I want it to be a smooth ride.

Keep all the replies simply and try to use detail, I'm still a noob at android terminology.

Thank you,

Curtis.

Flashing clockwork will not root your phone.

Fish and chips is stable and rooted

No video tutorials for crescent yet.

Going back to stock is no harder than installing a custom ROM.

Some ppl struggle with adb but there are several different ways to do it.all of witch have a guide floating around.

I gave it a try but for some reason I keep getting this (see attachment).

I've installed the drivers numerous times and rebooted my laptop a few times- any advice?

A few people have got this.... seems to be a trend. I'm looking into it. Try one of the pinned clockwork tutorials.

keep me posted :)

unlocking pack

Goto folder 4

04 Unlock SFII

Run the "download" program with the phone in FTM mode and this will put you directly into clockwork and you have all the advanced options.

Hope this helps smile.gif

Is this a secure method?

Thanks for the link.

Found this link; http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/android/unlock-orange-san-francisco-ii/install-usb-drivers-orange-san-francisco-ii/

I'll try and install the drivers using this method then I'll try Raverrr's method, if it doesn't work then I'll give yours a shot. I'm currently in college so it'll be another 6/7 hours before I can give it a shot.

If you plug your phone into your PC, then it creates a virtual CD drive under My Computer. The drivers are on this virtual CD drive.

I managed to fix my problem by following the link I posted, worked a treat but when my device rebooted it didnt go into Clockwork- it booted normally.

I haven't touched ADB or unplugged my device, awaiting further instructions.

Try unplugging from the PC then reboot the phone while holding the Vol - key until CWM starts.

Yeah, I eventually manned up and tried to do it manually. It's all fine and dandy, CWM is working fine. Thanks for the help guys, I've just backed up my stock rom incase I need to go back for one reason or another, time for FNC! Just allowing my battery to charge from 15% so it doesn't die on me whilst installing a new rom, I'd cry.
