Would it not be better to get the shop to ring to unlock the phone? Then it wouldn't cost 25p and save £5 on a sim you might not be using!

Hi All.

I purchased my new Huawei Ascend G300 only yesterday and applied for a unlock code as I am on the 3 network.

I received my unlock code this morning via email and now I have an unlocked handset.

The code cost me around £16 from the address below.

No messing - it just works.

Is lock hidden in android  or phone internal memory....?

Funny you should mention that, that's how I unlocked a Huawei 3G modem / wifi thingy last year.
From my fuzzy memory you extract a portion of the rom and search for a certain hex string.  Once you found that right next to it was a bunch of digits that was your unlock code.
I think that's how it works on some older Samsung phones as well.

The man from ebay came up trumps and quick too.  pitty I paid up Vodafone after  another cheaper site said they could not do it and leftt me thinking voda only

Well I paid for unlock for second phone only to find out when I put my sim in that it was already unlocked.  The box was open as it was last in shop and the guy said they had been using it to show customers.  So either it was unlocked or they unlocked it in the shop,  whish I had checked o well.

Mine too was open box as last one in shop. Not unlocked though.
The man on fleabay came up trumps - i bought code at 10pm and had phone unlocked by 10am.
12hr service - great!!!
