Google has pushed an update to the Chrome Beta for Android today, version 0.18.4409.2396, which brings a number of fairly significant enhancements.

My two biggest frustrations since the first beta has been the lack of support for external applications and inability to request the desktop versions of sites, something which is particularly annoying on a large screen or tablet. The new update fixes both of these complaints.

Other tweaks include support for system proxy settings and the ability to drop shortcuts of your bookmarks on to your home screen for ease of access.

The update has been expanded to all Play markets and adds 31 new languages, which means if you've been left out of the fun until now, you can finally download it officially rather than side-loading the APK.

If you've not used the Chrome Beta yet and own an ICS device I'd encourage you to take a look. The latest builds are very polished and less deserving of beta status with every release.
