Hi
Firstly, as a newbie to Android and the delights of the Huawei G300, I'd like to say what a fantastic community this is.
I've had my G300 two weeks now and with no experience on Android before, with the help of this site (and largely the ICS like you're 5 guide which is brillant),  I have - rooted my phone (I still don't really understand the full benefit of doing these other than - nstalled ClockWorkMod
- upgraded to Favaroooo version of ICS
I don't understand the greater benefits of rooting or CWM yet, I've just followed the custom ROM install guide,  hopefully I'll get a better understanding of what I can do with these later.
I couldn't have done any of this stuff without the information provided on here...
http://www.modaco.co...date-root-more/

Secondly,  I, like other users on here, have a problem with CWM 4 in that it kicks in if I try and charge the phone when powered off.
It seems I need CWM 5 but all the references to this file on Mediafire return an error message stating the file is deleted (do Mediafire files have a short lifespan or something?)

so...please please could someone provide me with an alternative link to this file where it won't disappear in the next day or so?

Thanks once again to a Happy Huawei owner  data:image/png;base64,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

The trouble is that it seems that the one I should go for is "CWM 5.0.2.8 GB & ICS Final version" but the second link of that is "Fastboot: http://www.mediafire.com/?undefined" Of course that goes nowhere. There are posts that quote that link (possibly an earlier version) but they lead to a 404 error.

Just giving this a try now. The backup seemed to work fine, just trying a restore. Looking good. :)

Edit: Backup & restore both worked without issue. Looks like I'll be staying on this new version. Many thanks for all your work on this, Kra1o5.

sorry for the noob question, but how can i upgrade from my current cwm version (4.x.x.x) to the krato's 5.0.2.8?
do i have just to download the zip and then flash it from my cwm menu and then reboot?
thanks, but i prefer to ask before making any mistake :)

Had a problem deleting dalvik cache with latest version. Phone just hung. Same happened on full wipe, I presume at this point. Maybe a problem on my phone but just mentioning it.

I don't think you have cwm installed.it sound like you still have stock recovery  You have to unlock bootloader and may need to try a couple of times.

Hi friends,

kindly let me know whether the clockworkmod recovery posted here(latest 4.0.1.5)  http://android.podtw...?device=hwu8815
works with official stock Gingerbread Rom.

i have rooted my phone with the guide of "PauloBrien" and i have the recovery , and i have only five option,

1. reboot system now
2.apply update from sd card
3.wipe data/factory reset
4.wipe cache partition
5. touchscreen firmware update

My main question is, will the above recovey package works fine and if so, will it provide me an option
to backup/Restore my stock rom(nandroid backup), so that i could come back to my stock GB anytime. pls help guys.....

Sorry for my english

just a question...I have b944 rom.
i have also cmw installed so that's my question:
can I restore a custom rom (even if older) or I can brick my phone?
do I have to backup IMEI every custom rom I restore or I can try any rom easily?
thank you for any reply!

Yes CWM allows you to do a full Nandroid backup of your phone for later restoration if needed.
