Hi Fellow droids.

this is my first post here, but before i get started let me assure you I have been through every single rooting thread there is!

A week ago i bought myself a ZTE blade(from Botswana{in africa}) over the past week i have been trying to root it with no success at all. i have tryed the z4root app the SDK toolkit way and many many more. the closest i got was with the SDK pushing rageagainstthecage and SU files across, it said i had root etc but rom manager refused to let me download clockwork mod.

my fone is a generation 2 zte blade running android 2.2.2,
base version : P729B01
Kernel 2.6.32.9-perf
build number ZTE-BLADEV1.0.0B01

can anybody offer me any ideas? i've tried my best to do it on my own and done all the research possible but it just won't let me.

the purpose for the root would obviously be to flash a custom rom.!

thanks =)

There has been a thread about an updated version of z4root with a new exploit that should work for blade, it was a while though...

Anyway I had a backup on my dropbox: http://db.tt/tM3Allag

That should work... If not, then you can use fastboot to install recovery and flash su from there.

thanks all for the promt replies.

The universal androot returns a "failed ! ~~~~~~ no Fu Goo ~~~~~ error.

the new and old z4roots(have tried last week) both do exactly the same thing. it asks for permenant or tempory root. if i choose permenant, it goes through the process reboots but still no rooting. =(. the temporary root just disables my 3g and/or wifi.

as for the fastboot my phone doesn't comprehend the vol + and power button.. it just boots as normal..

are there any other methods of installing custom roms?

thanks again for all the useful input!

Try a TPT.

Excuse the ignorance but doing a tpt transfer requires that you use the power on + vol up button am i correct?? my phone doesn't seem to allow this function. no matter how i try..

Depends on which side of the river we are on, but if all those things happend to me and ended up having root and custom rom, I say it was worth it!

Glad you made it through, though..now join us in the quest for the best for our ZTE Blades!
