I'm currently waiting delivery of my G300 (hopefully Wednesday) and want to get a MicroSD card in readiness. I intend getting a 32gb one and wondered if it is worth getting a class 10 one or if a standard class 4 one will be just as good. In order to take advantage of a class 10 card the hardware it is fitted in has to be able to use the extra speed and a lot of devices are not which makes the extra expense of a class 10 card pointless.

For example, with my OSF I saw no difference in transfer speed between a class 4  card and a class 10 card. I think it is the same with my sons Motorola Milestone.


Any ideas anyone.

Probably. Depends really on what you intend to use it.
I've got the 16 GB class 10 version and it's working fine for me. I am not sure how slow it would be with a class 4 memory card.

The speed you experience with that card on the phone connected via USB is related to the USB speeds of the device (not just the card) the SF and this phone will not have super fast USB so go for the Class 4 unless the price difference is small.

I have a class 4 and can play videos no problem from SD. The camera is not HD so video recording etc will be fine on class 4 as the phone's chips are likely to be similar in performance to the SF.

If you plan to fill up the SD card using a card reader then the Class 10 will let you fill up the card faster from a PC.

I just use the slow USB interface or mount the SD card over wireless using SAMBA for Andriod (free) so I can copy files to the phone when I need from a desktop machine.

Could someone confirm that the G300 won't benefit from a class 10 SD card and will perform just as well with a class 4 please?

Well I have a class 10 16gb card installed and the speed difference to my old class 4 card is remarkable.
