The San Diego is also known as the Noonhill or the AZ210A.

The AZ210B is the Orange France version, the AZ510 is a generic version and then there is the Xolo Lava too. :)

Google 'Medfield' and 'Noon hill' :)

C'mon seriously? Orange with Intel inside. That's the worst name for a phone.

That's what I've always thought too re: French mobiles, but there were a couple of French people on the SIM lock status thread who were trying to get unlock codes out of Orange France, and having to pay 20 Euros for them:

Lenovo K800 in China too.

One interesting thing is that the Lava Xolo and Lenovo K800 both launched at around the $525 mark (around £320). So in that respect the UK price of £200 is quite a bargain, and probably explains why it appears to be locked down so much to try and prevent root access and is locked to Orange etc. I have a feeling Orange/Intel have heavily subsidised the phone in European markets and would lose too much money if we all deserted for other networks after purchase.

Oh no quick worry about the profits of Intel and Orange. <_<

This is a first effort for Intel and they really need to get it into peoples hands and convince people they are contenders as such they are probably quite ok with losing a bit to start with.

They are all based on the same reference platform but some are made by different manufacturers I believe. Can't see Lenovo having Gigabyte manufacturing phones for them when they can manufacture phones themselves (and have done so in the past).

Correct the Lenovo has a different manufacturer/design, but the Xolo x900, Orange San Diego and 'Orange avec Intel Inside' were all manufactured by Gigabyte (the only difference is the back cover + time of production)

Paul's USB status now remarks c 'xolo x900 connected' for example! :)

The intel CEO said at the MWC Barcelona (holding a medfield phone) that the target price would be $150 on shelf to consumer... If anything it shows how easy early exclusivity can be bought, but also i would assume when we're talking Orange's volumes they have a fair bit of wriggle room on price, plus it can only highlight how much Intel wish to make this successful!! :)

Once more Intel devices hit the market then we will see them at lower prices. I fully expect to see under £100 devices this time next year with mid to high range specs. No more 240x320 resolution cheapo phones.

French name is absolutely NOT Santa Clara, as said above, it's "Orange avec Intel Inside"

Indeed! :) very good to know since the French reviews seem a bit less reluctant than the UK-centric ones in giving the phone top marks... Hopefully French sales will go well and we'll have two Nations looking for a SIM unlock/root for the same device! ... Google Translate is your friend! ;)

Since this device is really an intel and not orange, and probably the first Atom powered device(I think) why not call it the "Intel Atom"

Got a nice ring to it that has.lol

Hi guys !

Stop fighting with the French name...it's know here (yes I'm French) as Orange avec Intel Inside, and not as Santa Clara (which is an old nomination, codename). In the French rom, the model number is AZ210B.

For the sim lock, our devices are simlocked. We have to pay 75 € if we want the unlock code before 3 months after purchase from Orange. After 3 months, we get the unlock code for free (law).

But I'm waiting for a sim unlock also, as I don't want to pay and want to get my device unlocked immediately (before 3 months as announced by Orange France).

So yesn to nations are seeking for sim unlock and root...
