Not really. When I say low level, I mean it. This is like ridiculously low and is probably common to all mobile oses.

I think some things need to be cleared up here.

- *sigh* yes the Skate is ARMv6. Not sure where people got ARMv7 from.
- "Web-based" doesn't mean it requires Internet to work. Any HTML elements are stored locally.
- Like Lalit says, it's "based" on Android, but it doesn't mean much to us, other than it's likely we can flash it through a recovery.
- The reason we can't get WP7 is because this is open-source and WP7 isn't.
- Being open-source, it's already 'infinitely customizable', HTML-based or not.

Also, it's called Boot To Gecko (or B2G for short), not Firefox OS (though that is essentially what it is, since is also uses the Gecko engine). Foot, meet mouth.

if I remember correctly, the device Mozilla handed out with B2G was the Nexus S (correct me if not). That definitely means it may be possible to run it on other Android phones as well.

Actually, it's now called Firefox os. Boot to gecko was the initial name of the PROJECT.

But when you say it can be flashed through recovery do you mean like it's a ROM but harder to flash.
And will I keep recovery after I've flashed it?
Will we have to "port" it?

You build it from source, just like Android. The thing is, Firefox OS seems to like Armeabi-v7a, not ARMv6...so it's getting it to boot, which Lalit may have already done.

Don't be. The apps are apparently much easier to program than Android (whether this is true or not I don't know)

I'd day creating HTML5 apps are much simpler than creating android apps. All it is is canvas and vectors.

Much easier than this, considering the amount of considerations to take.
Phone models
Android versions
Etc

With iOS, the coding platform MAY be harder, but it doesn't have severe fragmentation like android.

I was talking to the Mozilla guys in the MWC in Barcelona, and allegedly you were supposed to be able to change EVERYTHING just by css. Menus, and core applications... It will be very nice or maybe a total chaos with lots of themes with little changes made here and there.

But mainly I think it's a good idea.
