Today Archos have announced the GamePad, a 7" Android 4.0 tablet with gaming controls!

Archos have announced that the GamePad will be available at the end of October 2012 for under £130 (US$205). That amount of your hard earned cash will buy you a GamePad with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, Mali 400mp quad-core GPU and Google Play certification.

Archos are also touting their patented technology of "game recognition and mapping tools" which should make games work easily with the up until now unusual controls on the GamePad.

Could this be a PS Vita killer? Will the Archos GamePad steal some of Sony's portable gaming market with a relatively inexpensive Android gaming tablet? Let us know what you think in the comments.

If the device does prove to be a resounding success, I suspect Sony might be kicking themselves after the Xperia Play 'debacle'...!
