This is a good deal - when you sign up for one of Pogoplug (excellent) new family backup plans, you get a Pogoplug hardware unit free!

The Pogoplug service starts at $29.99 a year for 3 user unlimited plug backup and a not inconsiderable 100GB of online storage, particularly a bargain when it then entitles you to the $49.95 Pogoplug unit itself free of charge (provided you are in US, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg or Switzerland!) Additional 300GB and 1TB tiers also available at $49 and $99 per year respectively.

For accessing your files on the go, Pogoplug provide an application in the Play Store at no extra cost.

Pretty cool right? I've signed up and my free Pogoplug is on the way... it looks like the little box is pretty hackable too, so I'm going to be having some fun. :D

Head on over to the Pogoplug website to learn more.

Got one its a piece of junk as is:

  • wifi networks never show up in control panel. Works fine with iwconfig over ssh though - old forum full of same issue tried stock netopia, stock asus, android-ap, dd-wrt and tomato
  • plugged in my smallest external drive to see how it did, still thrashing my disk indexing after 3 days - people on the forum say it indexes constantly to the poiiunt of failure
  • super slow on the android app if you have a lot of stuff

Install arch linux and minidlna music indexed in minutes no thrashing of disk.

Install arch linux and minidlna music indexed in minutes no thrashing of disk.

I have been trying to get this to work for ages now!

I have followed the instructions that I found and I can get it to boot. But whenever I try and use "pacman" to update the software - I get an error (something about /lib existing when it shouldn't)

I have tried several "fixes" but none of them work.

Any ideas?

Regards

Mike
