From what I understand it can be used to wirelessly transfer data such as making card payments and reading information of NFC tags. What would one use the tags for? Guest captainkremmen Posted September 14, 2012 Report Share Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) NFC is the technology behind contactless payment systems, so of course that gradually become one of the biggest uses. However it also has a myriad of other uses. When you buy the tags you have to program them with any information, or to trigger tasks on your phone that you want. Pointless uses could, for example, including programming a tag, attaching it to your PC and then when you tap the tag you get a rundown of the specs of your PC. Not much use granted, but a simple example. Other uses could be anything from attaching a tag to your washing machine, you tap the tag and it fires up a timer on your phone to let you know when the washing is done to tags in say charity shops that allow you to donate without having to buy anything inside if you wish, or just to get information on the charity, what it does and why you should donate.
