I wouldn't use a phone for "normal" video calling anyway, it's more useful for showing people stuff. Something like - "Hey, check out the view" or "I'm thinking of buying this sofa, what do you think?" Works perfectly on Skype, but Gtalk would be faster if it worked :( I tried the xda thing too. It doesn't let you start a hangout from within Google+, but you can do it from the "People" application if you have your contacts synced with Google+. Already tested voice, works perfectly. Have not had a chance to test video.
