Newbie on Official ICS update

Hey everyone, just to let you know that I am new to the whole Android scene. This is the first time I ever used an Android based machine, so please I can use all the help I can get. Quite recently I discovered that I can upgrade my Huawei Ascend G300 to the latest OS using instruction following this link http://huaweig300.com/huawei-g300-install-a-custom-jelly-bean-ics-rom-from-scratch/. I only continued till the page 6 of these instructions and then didn't bother getting a Custom ROM as I was happy with the official update to ICS.

Now the problem that I am getting on this new update is that, every time I try to charge the phone in the power off mode it opens up "CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.5" and it wont move from the page even if I try to reboot? I haven't tried any other options because I don't know what will happen if I did? Charging the phone in power on mode is absolutely fine but I prefer to charge the phone when it is off. So can someone please help me with this issue so that I can charge the phone in the power off mode? Please also can you give detailed instructions when you try to solve this issue? I won't be able to follow it through if I am not sure what I am suppose to do?

Finally can someone please share on how to connect g300 to a laptop ad-hoc networks? I have seen all kinds of information on it for other phones on websites like xda and phandroid but there is nothing regarding the instructions on g300 out there..

Thank you in advance and I will look forward to your reply. Cheers

You need CWM 5;

Ok, here:

CWM 5.0.2.8 Rev.3:

Fastboot: http://www.mediafire.com/?36c40t75sfyk60y

Zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?gezhn3dbc2yz1p5

Greetings

The "Fastboot" file is to be used the same exact way as described in the "easy install method".

If you already have CWM 4 installed then use the "Zip" to upgrade to 5 by just flashed it in Clockwork.

I have tried both methods and they work perfect.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure about your second question but I use "Airdroid" probably not what you're looking for but check it out and see if it helps you.

I do have CWM 4 on my android so to install version 5 do follow the steps from number 18 on Page 6 on this link http://huaweig300.com/huawei-g300-install-a-custom-jelly-bean-ics-rom-from-scratch/re-root-unlock-bootloader-install-clockworkmod-recovery/. Sorry for being such an inept in this but I want to get this right.

Can you please explain to me what am I suppose to do with the "Fastboot" file? I am not sure if fastboot was included in the instruction mentioned on the link above. Cheers

I will take a look

EDIT: Ok, I compile CWM with some changes.

CWM 5.0.2.8 GB & ICS

Support for sd-ext.

Zip: http://www.mediafire...gezhn3dbc2yz1p5

It will work with ICS.

Use the zip file above to flash over CWM 4.

Place the zip on the root of your SD card, boot into CWM then select "install zip from sd card"/ "choose zip from sd card": use volume keys to navigate to the CWM 5 zip and then install with the home capacitive button.

This is my first android too and a few months ago I was asking the most ridiculous questions( I still ask them <_< ). IMO it's better ask than to brick. If you don't understand something then just keep searching the forum, and if you can't find the answer then ask away.

Another silly question how do I place the zip file on my sd card? Like I copy and pasted the zip folder in the sd card but nothing shows up in the root when I look for it using "root browser"?
