Hi guys,

As per the title I decided to downgrade my android version using this guide: https://docs.google....QHNo/edit?pli=1
As an FYI - I have followed this guide before and had no issues.

I then installed a custom ROM from this thread: http://www.modaco.co...-and-i-cant-do/

My issue at the moment is that my phone says it cannot find a mobile signal - despite me checking with two sim cards. I am also unable to restore my IMEI - I simply get a blank message when entering *#06#,

I'd be grateful if someone could provide suggestions.

.Sounds like you are on incompatible radio and ROM images.  What is you baseband and ROM? Baseband 2030 for ICS else GB. What custom ROM did you install and how did you install it.

I've just checked and it currently says "unknown" - however if I recall correctly it's 2030 (or a number begining with 20..).

In the post was "Compatibility - This ROM should work with all models of the Huawei U8815/Ascend G 300"

Because there was no mention of the bandbase I assumed this wouldn't be an issue.

Would I be right in guessing that installing another ROM compatible with my baseband will solve my issues?

Android version now is 2.3.6

It was true in April (when the post was made) that it would work on all G300s as ICS baseband had not been released at that time. Use CWM to flash an ICS ROM and your IMEI should reappear and phone should work.

There are ways to get back to GB but avoid unless you really need to as there is more potential for things to go wrong. Try Infusion http://www.modaco.co...pdate-17092012/ if you like as that seems to be well supported but there ar plenty of other options including Vodafone stock B936.

Thank you for the help Hogweed,

I was hoping that you could point me in the direction of the ICS you're assumedly using as the one I was using was freezing up frequently.

I'll probably take my chances with ICS again rather than cause further headache for myself

Actually I'm still on the Modaco Gr2 (B888 based) GB ROM with added OC kernel. I would probably flash B926 to get High Speed Upload and then try Infusion in CWM as a first step, but to be honest I am happy where  I am and don't need late night heart attacks from the 100 different ways this phone can make you think you've bricked it (although usually you won't have) even if you know what you are doing :-)

I will probably try ICS when Vodafone UK officially release it. That way I get to stand in the Vodafone shop where I bought it and shout at them if I brick it!

Hi, I'm new on this forum, but I've just been through the IMEI downgrade process and found a couple of things that might be relevant. I followed the downgrading guide you used, which set my IMEI to zero, then installed the stock ICS ROM (B934) from SD card, and then couldn't restore my IMEI. The reason was simple - B934 appears to default to using the internal SD card as /mnt/sdcard, so toolbox5irom.apk can't find it (since the 5irom directory is now on /mnt/sdcard2). I simply copied the 5irom directory back to /mnt/sdcard and restored the IMEI. Then had to pull the battery out to get the new IMEI picked up - it wont pick the IMEI up if you have Fast-boot set.

Certainly, focussing on getting the IMEI back is definitely needed before any network will accept you. As for heart attacks, both my G300 and I have recovered from a near-brick-experience recently. Hope this helps.
