Guest ColdEmbrace
I did a quick search and there was only 3 threads about this. At least as far as I can find so please forgive me if there is an answer already. Is there anyway to get working USB OTG on the ZTE Blade?, I understand that this is a kernel related issue and it is something that I would like to get working anyway possible. Guest h4z7d
Yes there is and it does work! You can use it to connect a number of perephials, keyboards, mice and usb flash drives. It's also possible (with a bit of work) to use things like wired ethernet, usb wifi, usb DVB tuners, external monitors etc. Currently I've only had it working with older Roms that use the 2.6.32.9 Kernel. But i'm working on getting it working with the latest CM7 build (2.6.35 Kernel). Once I've succedded I'll post a "how-to" guide. There are a few things worth mentioning:Although the Blade has a USB OTG chip, its not powered by the device. What that means is that you will need to make/buy a suitable cable (more info on my site http://www.hattonb.com ) and connect an external power source. I've used a number of ways but found that a powered usb hub or a battery powered usb charger to be the most practical. I'll post a picture if your interested. When connecting/disconnecting the USB OTG cable, it's likely that your phone will reboot.Andriod doesnt nativley support NTFS, so you may need to load an additional module to support those usb drives that use NTFS.There was one reported incident of somone breaking their phone (http://www.modaco.co...40#entry1776790 ) I'm not sure if this ever was resolved. I've been experimenting with USB OTG for a year with no ill effects. You can either wait for me to post up a proper guide, or you can download an older rom with the 2.6.32.9 kernel (I'm using CyanogenMod nightly 174) and run the zip files I've hosted here (https://skydrive.liv...D682B09AF9!1018) in clockwork and it should work.
