we were discussing this the other day, would be great if say, the speaking clock used the record button, as not many people use it

yup, should be easy to create a small app that runs in the background that disables the record button and applies it to run any other app you want (presuming you can do this with an application running in the background)

As I said at The Event in London: To change what that button is doing go in reg/LM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/keys and there u have the definitions for the keys

Have fun now

in fact, if i remember correctly, these are registry settings that are left over from pocketpc2002 (the recorder on pocketpc is called hotvoice) and aren't even used by smartphone (could be wrong tho)

Indeed that seems to have calendar and contact keys....

By the way: MS, you serious tw@s!!! What the hell are you doing leaving all that PPC rubbish in the new SP OS??? And plenty of 'while-in-development' files...

Coming back to the point...

Is the button function hard-coded into the phone?? I'm getting damn pissed trying to find anything relevant in the registry!! ARGGHHH!!

Anyway, that's the only thing I found to be of interest, have a look at:

my guess is its built into the os, but not held in the registry (even though florin thinks otherwise), and so, you can create a program to disable it, or change its function, but you cant do this through the registry (i think)
