Nope there was not the room in the design, just because they have a SIM slot which you have to have does not suddenly mean there is room left over for a microSD housing. I had the information from official sources.

Well does sound like something you'd expect from official sources rather than we purposely limited it.
Given the bulk of the thing they should have tried harder if it just wouldn't fit, 20% larger volume than the ativ s with it's larger screen and battery...
It must have been an early decision to not include one rather than last second "oh we forgot memory slot can we shoehorn one in somewhere, no, oh well" or "damn it's a little too big to fit in the case what can we remove"

is there a Tasker equivalent for Windows Phone? I'm seriously considering this is my upgrade option next month, but rely on Tasker for auto profile switching.

Not sure it has 20% larger volume than the Ativ S. It is very headily tapered and the 10mm thickness is only for the thickest part which takes up no more than two thirds of the device.

There are no profile switching as such as you do not have different profiles on WP as such.

It would be superflous to have profile switching, never ever heard of any two people sharing a mobile phone.
Would very much like to get hold of this device and Beat it to smithereens with a 2.1 Mega-pixel camera to relieve some stress....................................I was quite confused/muddled by the In Use section which contained "by really using it in anger i've enjoyed it".
Seriously now, I only have one question...........as a general concensus, would this device be considered The best Windows 8 mobile phone ?

That's not exactly what I meant. Tasker on Android lets me automatically switch sound off when I get to work and switching WiFi on when I'm at home. NFC tags'll do the same, but I have to physically touch my phone against them for that.
Also, are there any 3rd party turn-by-turn GPS solutions out there, like CoPilot etc?
How about cloud based music? I currently have all my music stored on Google Music - does anyone know if this would work via a web browser on Windows phone 8?
