JoyOS 1.2.4

CM7.2 ROM based

*0.1 current version*

Before ROM install:

1. Wipe data/factory reset

2. Wipe dalvik Cache

* Versions of CM 7.2 could be compatible but not tested*

*Based on UK Android 2.1 partition layout*

ROM is based on Huawei C8650 JoyOS 1.2.4 version with kernel and structure from CM 7.2

ROM is UltraFast and snappy!!!

For swap create 3rd SD Card partition, size as needed - not thorougly tested built in (build.prop+/system/app version)

Min recommended 64 Mb (swappiness 40-60)-tested with 3rd partition+Swapper2

Working

Data (2G/3G)

GPS (fast positioning, in new version gps.conf edit for EU users)

Bluetooth

Camera (Video/Cam) - faster than on 1.2.2 - CameraZOOMFX working great

Hardware buttons (even the camera)

Working recovery shortcut from power menu (reboot/recovery)

OC to 748 Mhz (standby 2 days+2 hours usage on 691 Mhz)

NO ROTATE BUG

Not Working

Nothing known (some JoyOS apps still in porting-Dialer, Contacts) - use exDialer from market instead

*Wifi - I think the problem is related due to kernel (boot.img) which doesn't initiate right (build.prop), some users reported OK wifi on 1.2.2 version - PLEASE TEST AND POST!

Confirmed - WiFi was kernel related

Changelog:

19 11 2012 - Version 0.1 - alpha

Framework and system apps from Huawei C8650 MDPI device

/system/app

*included apps*

JoyOS bundle apps - all functional (except FM-FC, removed from ROM), stock Dialer and Contacts, JoyOS FC's-still checking

iPhone notifications

MiFile explorer (MIUI port)

Market (working, 2.3 version)

Link2SD works (tried data2ext, mount2sd and A2SD DT - doesn't apply apps or dalvik to /sd-ext after enabling)

Multiling keyboard

GOBackup 2.4

SuperUser

DPI 160 (was 140, strange display, some artefacts)

In planning:

SWAP confirmation (build.prop version+system app stock)

Front camera implementation

Touchdriver implementation for recover - Aroma installer

.....

19 11 2012 - Version 0.2 - alpha1 - BOOT.IMG OBLIGATORY FOR WIFI

Screenshots:

Not uploaded yet, will post ASAP...

*a little patience please... :) *

Kernel (boot.img) is CM 7.2 OC from this site (bare version), tried changing eth0->wlan0 through build.prop but unsuccessfuly.

I will check the music player and we can exchange it for MIUI ported.

Cannot take video? Well, I've tried and no problem (currently taking video without any problems). What base ROM are you using? (100 Mb system is needed, check free space on system)

A flashable BOOT.IMG uploaded, all WiFi related works.

[GUIDE] Increase RAM using Swap File and Swap Partition

http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1659231

do all the how to but don't do last part:

Advanced preferences: (for Kernels that supports swap partition only)

Use swap partition (put a check)

Swap partition: /dev/block/mmcblk1p2

don't do the last part and to stay safe just use ext3...

Thanks for the insight and quick guide.

Swap should be used already (setup through build.prop, quick reminder I must check the swap partition on /dev) on this ROM.

hi could you explain me how to change the buil.prop swap command line to use them on cm7 ?thank you

to check if swap if already working on your rom port... run terminal emulator....type su, then type free it will show if swap is uses or not...

i am actually testing a file who make minimum brightness use(saving battery).i am not sure but i think that brightness is set to minimum 20 per cent...with that file the minimum brightness use will be reduce to 10 percent.

Easy, just enter recovery (from android reboot->key combination power+menu+call end button)

Choose Install zip from sd card->file name of the boot zip.

Thats it. ^_^

i would like a little explanation how to flash the boot img :/

just a topic list. i just dont want to make a mess :/

thanks and good work :)

i like the launcher, between this and the iphonish , a prefer this one.

Just a bug (i think) in contacts, some of them show a yellow picture above the contact, looks ugly :/

but, every thing else that a test until now, looks very nice

Launcher, file manageer, dialler and gallery in 1.2.2 better than in this rom :(

Thanks for testing, dialer and contacts currently in porting, you can try exDialer (will be included, system partition is 100 MB so it will be included in /data/app partition in rom update). Gallery will also be replaced, currently in testing: quickpic (previous /system/app problems), ultra gallery (most iphone like) and mediagrid (simple and fast gallery, basic).

File manager will be (although not iphone like, but packed with features) X-plore file manager. ^_^

i changed again to a CM7 rom port for u8220 , because of some bugs.

the message space to chat doesn't refresh all times, i need to click on other element on the screen and touch to write again and it shows what i write, but doesnt shown new "chars".

another one made me get back, is about, while receiving a call, the block screen stucks, and a needed to take off the batery and restart all again :/

hope it will help

  1. I have the same problem on the message space. Characters simply don't appear on the screen until the line changes.

  2. I have another problem: i cant install v0.2. It says the following message:

Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.

Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. (...)

Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary)

to create working update zip packages.

unzip v0.1 and 0.2....past boot.img from v0.2 in v0.1 ...zip it and flash ...it should be good....

This is a dream port and makes me wonder what a old hardware like that of Pulse can still do.

Pros-

1. Super fast but not that smooth for first few minutes of use but gets better somehow.

2. Wi-fi works flawlessly.

3. Darktremor A2sd support and 30mb RAM always available.

4. Can play Age of Empire :D which wouldn't even start in other Roms.

and many more.

Cons-

1. The first and really HUGE con is the battery life. Battery drains at a speed of 1% per 2-3 seconds even if you dont use it hard. Really astonishing. Playing a game drained 20% of battery in 5 minutes.

2. I dont recieve calls instantaneously. There is a delay of about 15 seconds between the call is connected and when i get it on my phone.

Thank you for posting your testing results.

In the first few minutes swap is still in "startup" so when the it is filled with several apps everything should then work almost flawlessly.

All A2SD options should work (DT, M2SD, amarulz not tested).

Battery life could be prolonged, use min 245 Mhz and max no more than 691 Mhz (710 Mhz and up dramatically increases battery consumation, tested on 729 Mhz and uses extremely battery).

Calls could be related to Swap swappiness, use 40 or larger and a task manager to clear background apps. I am currently a day and 12 hours active on same battery charge (used with WiFi on 1 hour and screen on for 1h 45 min). ;)
