Can I overclock on my stock rom?

I just wanna know that is it possible to overclock the CPU on a stock rom?
I tried with some applications and it shows that maximum value is only 800Mhz.

nah. you have to have a kernel that supports overclocking.

so flash a custom rom and then you will be able to overclock.
