Ubuntu is very difficult to run on ARMv6.
Firefox, on the other hand, should be significantly easier. Don't forget that ZTE is planning to make ARMv6-based phones running Firefox.

ZTE Skate // CM7.2 // 2.3.7
ZTE Crescent (P736E) // CM9 // 4.0.4

Even if one compiled ubuntu, wouls be useless because it uses qt, which means apps will be written in cpp, and most probably compiled for armv7. Not to mention ubuntu is slow, buggy, and nowadays they are pissinh against the wind with their mir stuff.
Firefox OS apps on the other hand will be written in html5 and js, so they should be totally compatible. Running js based apps on low-end hardware sounds not too encouraging though, but I guess they will be more optimized than the ones on todays desktop sites...

Where you get this info? What CPU ZTE planned to use? Qualcomm stops support for MSM7x27 a long time ago.
I think it will be MSM7225A. It has 600...800 MHz ARMv7 core.

Firefox OS development devices (unagi, otoro, hamachi) are all MSM7x2xA.

Agreed. There's zero chance of ZTE (or anyone for that matter) to come out with a new MSM7x27 device.
Firefox OS development devices (unagi, otoro, hamachi) are all MSM7x2xA.
That's for Mozilla for Mobile (browser) not Firefox OS.
