Why starting this topic?
Surfing on several china g300 phone (it`s U8818 over there!) forums brings pleasant surprises every now and then,
so - why not sharing them...

First link is going to be the original topic - use Chrome for translate
Second link is a download link (sometimes tends to be slow)

Links will bring you to new roms and other interesting stuff
.

Don`t flash those roms immediately if you are not sure what youre doing.
As first, check chinese rom topics on modaco (Miui, Baidu, Shendu, EMUI, X-UI, LewaOS, JoyOS, MokeeOS...)
for some specific stuff regarding CWM, updater-script and removing chinese apks.

CWM: Sometimes, flashing a chinese rom could bring you a chinese cwm. Delete lines with the word: recovery in updater-script, delete Recovery folder or recovery.img file
Chinese apks: Delete apks (mostly in system/apps folder) with chinese names (hint: ApkSpy) prior to flashing or later, with a root explorer
updater-script: If there are U8818 words, delete those lines at the begining of the script (if there are U8815 words, too - don`t delete lines) in META-INF/com/google/android
hosts file: it is at /etc/hosts Open it and and delete all the lines except localhost 127.0.0.1 (at the beginning): This is mostly for GB&CM7 roms
User interface: All chinese roms have at least english language in settings. It is not hard to find it, but if you fail - do this before flashing:
build.prop: Replace zh to en; CN to US in:
ro.product.locale.language=zh   
ro.product.locale.region=CN  

Use 7zip for rom file and notepad++ for editing files   

This is just a general guidance. Please check Baidu topics on forum for more detailed explanations

Nice initiative Dakok , also could you add a rating somewhere too. Example: Speed 4/5, Performance 4/5, etc; that would help other users to have a subjective understanding of the ROM before trying.

It`s probably a normal CM7 (109808bb), but you can try it with Tillaz`s patch for 2030bb or, better, wait for
a new release or a modded/transplanted one.

It`s not friday today. It`s ROMday!

That chinese website gives me a headache, is it really of any use? At the moment we are being swamped with one release or another and none of them work 100%, you would be better posting a thread with roms that work as they should it would be a much smaller post

Well, I did a clean install of Shendu 4.1.2 and it failed to boot. Tried it twice and gave up. Will try Bruno's new version later to see have I any better luck.

Nobody knows how to fix anything, the devs on this are not as potent as some other devices. What we have is lots of wannabes tacking useless apk's to established roms and saying "hey look its new and fast" and still its fubbard.

It`s not that bad, really.
I`m changing roms frequently and most of the features I use work without a glitch.
Present rom is ~35h from charging with 33% remaining battery.
Web browsing on Opera mobile is fast on WiFi and data network, calls are OK, GPS functions properly,
Google`s stuff is OK.

I`m sattisfied with that and only stuff I need (and searching for better) is a good battery
consumption, fast scrolling, lots of free RAM (or great RAM handling), working camera, WiFi and GPS.
A lot of g300 roms forfill that.
