Acer have announced their new A1, their take on the iPad mini form factor.

Powered by a quad-core MTK processor, the A1 features a 7.9" 1024x768 IPS screen, the same as Apple's smallest tablet.

The device, which weighs 410g and is 11.1m thick, is available in both WiFi and 3G versions. WiFi is of the 802.11b/g/n variety, while Bluetooth is version 4.0. A 5 megapixel rear-facing camera captures 1080p video at 30fps while a front-facing camera is available for video chats. microHDMI is included for video playback on the big screen.

8GB and 16GB versions will be available with the option to expand storage via microSD. The Iconia A1-810 (WiFi version) will be available end of May at a starting price of £149.99, the Iconia A1-811 (3G) version will be available end of July at a starting price of £209.99.

I can't say this really excites me...? How about you?

Not sure why they would expect anyone to get excited really. I'd go for their own B1 if I was in the market for a budget tablet, the specs aren't exactly worlds apart and with the £20 cash back offer Acer are running through May its almost half the price!
