Guest Dan Mullen
I got my black 32GB Nexus 5 delivered today, even though it wasn't due to ship until 8th Nov :) I've heard there's a 150MB update to download when you first use the device, so I'm going to wait until I get home before switching it on. Also, I'm planning on rooting it before I do anything using Chainfire's super easy method.
Guest Luirawr
Im unlocking the bootloader of mine before I do anything with it! Simply due to wanting to root and all other kinds of goodness without having to reinstall or back up anything. Its been sat on my desk at work, teasing me, since 1030am!! Been waiting to get home before I do anything. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted, but after installing the 139MB update on first boot I need to re-root it. Guest hydo1
Got my 32gb black one yesterday. My uni held it for 3 hours before they would let me collect it from the parcels desk. Those 3 hours dragged so bad because I knew from parcel force that it had been delivered.

Guest Luirawr
Safe to say I love it. The update wouldn't download so I flashed the entire Official ROM after unlocking the boot loader and its the sexiest piece of kit ever! Battery life is on 12% after being off charge since 830am Biggest killers are screen and TU go from 02 Other than that I have No complaints :D

Guest masterpfa
I had a very disappointing wait on Monday. I received my "Your device has been shipped" email on Saturday 2nd. So Monday morning tracking on line, I see loaded on to van for delivery at 08:29 Needless to say countless calls, tracking on line and staying in ALL day did not yield my phone. Frustrated is a polite way of saying it :angry2:  Tuesday morning and a few calls to my local Parcel Force assured me delivery would be before 12:00 and at 09:45 it was, but the previous days events had tarnished somewhat my expected joy. But she's here now and I'm enjoying the experience, not had a chance to really play etc. I couldn't wait to use so I haven't unlocked the Bootloader or rooted yet, so I will need to back up etc. and "Start all over again" :o ;)
Guest tillaz
Anyone one know if the Nexus 5 works with any wireless QI charger? was thinking of getting one of these on the cheap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Qi-Standard-Wireless-Power-Charging-Charger-kit-For-Apple-Samsung-Nokia-HTC-/171165388373?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhonesCasesPouches&var=&hash=item27da408e55 around a 10a shipped (QI Pad only)
Guest The Soup Thief
That should work fine. If it's Qi compatible (this design is) you're golden. Bear in mind of course, you only need the pad - not the whole kit. Also, while it should work with the regular 1A charger, the n4 doesn't trickle/top-up charge reliably unless you use a 2A power supply The N5 may or may not behave the same way (2A chargers are a couple of quid from Amazon if you don't have one already)
Guest comicbookguy
I was thinking about one of the cheap qi pucks go make my car hookup completely wireless.... Does anyone know :How thick are the pucks and what's the device temp like while charging? Can anyone forsee any other probs?
Guest The Soup Thief
The puck charger I have is about 12mm thick. N4 gets up to 40 something degrees when charging. Don't know about the n5 as I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Obvious problem will be the phone sliding off, but you could come up with some way of securing it I'm sure (a big lump of blu-tak would do the job I guess!) Guest comicbookguy
I have a brodit mount in the car with about 10mm of spare thickness on the mounting arms, and I wouldn't be opposed to dismantling a cheap puck to integrate it into the mount. How much case thickness can you have in the way and it still work? I've got a wallet case on order and would like to use the puck with the case folded open around the back of the phone. Guest The Soup Thief
My n4 charges happily through a 1.5mm hard plastic case. Just tried it with a magazine (about 5mm) between it and the pad - it began charging, though I can't comment on the rate. Thinking back to school physics, magnetic field strength relates to the square of distance, so the further from the source the slower the charge - since your phone consumes charge while it's on, the phone might actually discharge while indicating it's charging if you have it too far away. FYI, the ones Tillaz mentioned above are 156 x 84 x 9 mm, so a bit thinner. Can probably lose a bit of the case above and below the coil if that would help it fit your device. Also I saw really slinky looking qi car chargers somewhere for 40 dollars or so (just noticed - SwiftKey has 3 pound keys and no dollar keys! Refreshing change!) Guest comicbookguy
Since I ordered the case I've got really used to having a naked device in a soft bag again. I'm having second thoughts about something so bulky anyway
Guest The Soup Thief
My Nexus 5 arrived from the UK! It's bloody gorgeous! Weighs half-nothing and seems (so far as I can tell) cooler than Jesus! Having great fun with "OK Google".

Guest The Soup Thief
I'm quite liking the Google Experience Launcher business. Battery life seems better than I feared. The screen's beautiful and the phone feels outstanding. Also I've been reading about the introduction of the new Android Runtime (ART) to replace Dalvik, which will become Dalvik 2. Read here ( http://readwrite.com/2013/11/07/google-says-it-could-replace-dalvik-runtime-in-next-version-of-android#awesm=~oncLLbZ6ims9bl) for info, but the as I've understood it the upshot of this is going to be that once enough of Android (particularly 3rd party apps) is compatible with ART it will mean faster operation with lower power consumption. Obviously greater efficiency is going to mean longer battery life. The really exciting thing is that this is all very close - you can turn ART on already but I gather it can lead to a lot of problems, forced closes and wake locks at the moment. As explained in the above linked piece, it could be that the next version of Android is a lot quicker and better suited to the (currently insufficient) batteries manufacturers put in these phones. Guest EdwardSmith36
Even I don't like to wait for a long time, due to which I ordered my device from Amazon and the delivery was as expected, "ON TIME". Thanks to Amazon!
