I got mine yesterday and I'm loving it so far but I need a case for it and I was just wondering if it's a fairly standard size/shape so any cheap case on eBay would fit fine or will I have to buy one of those £20 cases from Tesco?

I got a soft touch one with the Hudl2 from Tesco when I got it - 1/3 off although still not the cheapest!  I then got http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O58FSLO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 however, it hasn't been designed quite right and obscures the screen around the edges.

I have just bit the bullet and ordered the leather one from Tesco using the clubcard boost - paid just short of a fiver for it delivered.

I purchased the one below in blue and the missus got it in pink.

Both cases arrived today and must say we are both very impressed. Quality feels good and they are nice and sturdy. Colours are a perfect match and all the holes are in the correct places.

Would highly recommend - and its only £6.99!

I've had similar for my Note 10.1. They are good but after a while the cover fabric (mock leather PU) does start to peel away from the backing board in places.

But at that price who's to worry as they are cheaply replaceable.

I am liking the rubbery feel of the Tesco one. (Oo-err missus ;) ), and it's adjustability of angle.

i really like the offical Hudl 2 case........i will agree, its quite tight at first.....it does cause a bit of pressure on the screen but after a few weeks this has gone as the case seems to have loosened ever so slightly.

its perfic now :)

however, i really REALLY want the Tesco keyboard one. Anyone know when thats is supposed to arrive?

Tesco told me the keyboard one wasn't a finished product... then I told them that the image is on their web server but just unlinked. ;)

So, who knows! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

In the hope it may help other people; I've tried a couple of keyboard cases with my Hudl 2, both with downsides, one being hard-wired via micro-USB, the other being Bluetooth.

1st was a unit via Ebay (listed then under number 181560086913, titled 'CASE FOR TESCO HUDL2 HUDL 2 TABLET PC WITH BUILT IN KEYBOARD and claimed to be 'Specially Designed to Fit the new Tesco Hudl 2') which sported the correct micro USB connection (let down by being in-line instead of right-angled).  My choice was the 'Blue with Lines' colour combo' which, I feel, contrasts nicely with the blue Hudl 2.  The length and width of the case do suit the Hudl 2 very well, but the depth is somewhat excessive, measuring approx' 30mm at the outside of the spine, and the pressed metal mountings are disappointingly deeper than need be for the Hudl 2, at 11mm inside dimension, also the retaining lip on each has only been folded by about 80 degrees instead of 90. (only a small detail but it makes a difference).  The one moveable mounting is on sensibly tensioned elastic ribbon which will lose tension with age to be determined.  Despite the claim 'Specially Designed to Fit the new Tesco Hudl 2', the keyboard itself is non-UK, i.e. it is typically generic, has the Dollar symbol instead of our £, but our £ is obtained by pressing the adjacent #, " and @ are reversed and a few other keys are typically wrong.  The rear stand and the strap to close the case are magnetic, functioning as would be expected by appearance, however the closure strap seems to often fall over the screen when the Hudl is in use.  There are no cutouts on the mounting flap, therefore the rear camera and speakers are completely obscured.

2nd was an unbranded (but appears to be 'IVSO' as found on 'Amazon') black PU leather-lookfabric, Bluetooth keyboard case, actually designed for (and only supposed to fit) the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9".  This is the one found with the broad closure strap which fits into a loop on the rear of the case and the same width stand which has magnetic closure.  There are two cutouts in the rear which means the Hudl speakers are only partially obscured, but the rear camera is at least partially covered, the extent to which depends on exactly where you choose to position the Hudl.  The width of the case is about 10mm wider each side than the Hudl 2 (in landscape orientation), which feels a good compromise and offers that little bit more protection from bumps.  The Hudl 2 fits quite well in width (again in landscape orientation) into the leather-look fabric surround, but I find it needs 5mm of packing under it's lower edge and, therefore, about 25mm of packing at the top, which needs to be appropriately cut away for accessing the power and volume controls - whatever variations you choose for the packing, don't forget to consider the rear camera.  When 'packed', I find the pre-formed sides prevent the Hudl 2 falling out and appears to be easily good enough for 'respectful' use.  This came with generic instructions for pairing which were easy enough to follow.  Similar to the first keyboard, various keys are wrong and, despite being obviously a generic layout and not purposely made for the Hudl 2, had the same keys wrong as the first keyboard.  One point unusual to me is a lack of 'Delete' key, but using 'Shift' + 'Backspace' produces the delete function.  A possible benefit of this case is the removable (rechargeable) keyboard.

Edit: I used the bluetooth keyboard today (24/11/14) for the first serious stuff (transcribing meeting minutes) and won't be doing so again.  The sensitivity is poor, with numerous missed keystrokes, it switches either off or to some standby mode too quickly (for my purposes) & doesn't re-activate anything like quickly enough.  This keyboard may be great for occasional casual use, but nothing more.  (Today's upside was the Hudl2 itself proving to be absolutely ideal for me - no other tablet could be better.)  All things considered, I have to recommend against this bluetooth keyboard - a wire may be rather inconvenient in some ways, particularly protruding from the Hudl2's micro-USB socket, but it's decidedly more 'workable'.

If anyone has questions about something to do with the cases I've described and not clarified above, I'll try to help.

For both of the keyboard cases I've tried, I'm considering trying the 'android-bt-keylayouts_AmazonBasics_BT_KB.zip' file being provided by 'glossywhite' in his thread 'AmazonBasics Bluetooth keyboard' in this forum - 'cos I haven't a clue how/where else to start to modify the 'wrong keys', unless I get a black permanent marker and some white nail varnish!

To the moderators; This is one of my first posts and I'm only trying to help others.  I have no connections with sellers of equipment.  If I've broken any rules, I apologise in advance and will be happy to re-edit if you would please advise accordingly.

For an ordinary case - no keyboard - I bought one from Ebay, £7.99 inc postage, has all the correct holes and access, not bad at all, slight mis-alignement of couple of holes, but not enough to be a problem.
