Hello folks.

I am about to buy a Bay Trail tablet called a "Linx 10", and since the specs are almost identical to the Hudl 2, and since people like me want to install Ubuntu on these tablets, and some Hudl 2 owners want to install Windows, I found this information, which I've bookmarked, and I thought I'd share it, as it could provide some headway towards you all getting Windows/Ubuntu on the Hudl 2:

I'm really really looking forward to any progression in this area - I almost wish I got a Windows tablet now because even though I love the Hudl 2 and Android, I would love for it to run Windows 10 since it's been talked about and it's obviously possible.

The Hudl 2 running Windows 10 would be the perfect companion to a laptop and, lets say a Windows Phone. :D

I know someone out there has the brains to get the Hudl 2 booting custom operating systems and I can't wait till I can get to running Windows on it since it's very capable. Shame I have no idea how to go about such things as it is.

I would love to duel-boot the device between android and windows as needed. Now that would be really cool,

I had a Windows TG01 mobile that ,about 5 years back I got duel-booting both android and windows mobile.

It was great being able to switch when needed.

Would love to do it with the hudl 2 and have a win win situation!

Paul, is that really what you think? Of course not, but I'm human and I get tense just like everyone else - I don't know where this term "troll" originated, but it appears to be applied as a blanket response to anyone with a viewpoint that the person applying this overused phrase doesn't agree with. It takes two to tango...

Onward with the thread, now all the guff has been trimmed out. BTW, Paul, you have also removed some posts from a very nice bloke who didn't even enter the potatoe conversations... please could that be undone?

Toodle pip.

The Hudl2 forum probably isn't the place to try and tell people Windows tablets are better eh? I suspect your excessively verbose posts and sarcastic signoffs rub some people up the wrong way too. ;)

At the end of the day we're all here to try and help each other enjoy our devices, I will temp-ban or perma-ban anyone I think is negatively impacting that.

I'm certain that I've never in any manner tried to say Windows is "better" on a tablet; where's the part where I said that? I'm a 39 year old man, not a child with a hobby and an agenda. Attempting to run windows or Linux on the Hudl 2 is not saying they're "better" - come on now, you know that we're all just trying to have fun hacking (that's what hacking is, after all - its way more complex then merely flashing ROMs and rooting things, you know that), and to get experience and knowledge from trying these things is for the greater good, as it means another feather in everyone's caps, which - in turn - increases the amount of knowledgeable people frequenting your site... so that's a good thing for all members, and for you too, eh?

PS: how do you know my "sign offs" are sarcastic? That's how I speak in real life my friend - I am light hearted and I like having a giggle; I'm sorry that doesn't translate well in text form, but that's my personality - I'm happy and joyful, and my language is how it is, and hopefully never offensive.

As for "excessively verbose" - you mean I type proper sentences to avoid ambiguity? I'm not about to change that, I type to be understood without others misunderstanding. I may waffle a bit, but that's better than me being afraid of expressing myself.

:)

One thing you certainly haven't learned is how to take a hint.  Paul spoke for several of us.

just setting up new computer etc.

will be playing with the files more on sunday.

Good show old bean. When I get my Linx tablet (could be a fortnight), I'll be able to help a bit further.

[update]: Windows 10 technical preview, build 9926 has just been released, earlier today (Friday 23rd Jan):

If you want Cortana in Windows 10 everything needs to be set to United States for now. Just a fair warning. XD
