Guest Hax Posted February 21, 2003 Report Share Posted February 21, 2003 Yes, screen does look shorter, but that doesn't mean the resolution is different - maybe the SPV has rectangular pixels and the Tanager square? Or may just be a trick of the eye :) As for not looking as stylish, I have to say that I think the Tanager looks much "sexier" than the SPV :lol: And the keypad looks an awful lot more comfortable to use than the SPV's, with the buttons being slightly larger and looking like they'd have more of a positive feel to them. Can't really tell too much until you have one in your hands tho! And if Paul says it's functionally (and visually - screenwise) way better, then I'd be inclined to believe him - he's ina position to know after all. Have to say that I'm not best pleased at being shafted by Orange like this :D But then as I did get the phone for "free" I guess I can't complain too much ;) Hax Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That Orange logo is hideous, I prefer my 'unbranded' Tanager :) The keypad is far nicer, but the best improvement is the little joystick, it makes Motocross actually playable ;) As mentioned previously, I have asked O for an official response as to whether existing owners will be able to get the new model at preferential rates... watch this space! Maybe that picture just doesnt do it justice. And that Orange logo...... oh dear. Luckily, if older orange phones are anything to go by, you can gently remove the logo with persistant rubbing. I'm always hitting the wrong direction/key. At the end of the day, a free upgrade would be nice or even cheap upgrade, but I'm not that fussed. They'll always be something better coming out just after you got what you have now. Hopefully we'll have a larger range of Smartphone 2002 phones by the time my next upgrade is due. Maybe some based on the Intel XScale kit or clocked faster or better batteries. Maybe clam shell, built in camera, cooks and cleans? Guest spacemonkey Posted February 21, 2003 Report Share Posted February 21, 2003 In spite of Paul suggesting several times that the screen is the same size, if you check the picture with a ruler held up against your monitor you'll find that the screen is exactly the same size. I think what we have here is an optical illusion where the external shape of the phone is confusing your brain into thinking that the screens are different sizes when in fact they are EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE. Logo does look if not faik - then v poorly designed and ugly - buy some sandpaper. The screen does seem to have better quality pixeling/drawing/displaying - whatever u wanna call it - but i now want one of them! When is it out? I would have expected a bit more interest from them to be honest with you. MS at least appreciate how this community helps their products, and appreciates we are their valued customers! Guest someone Posted February 21, 2003 Report Share Posted February 21, 2003 About the logo: it is photoshop indeed, look at this page: http://www.infosync.no/show.php?id=3108&page=3 And Paul, can you tell me more about the tanager / SPVx you have right now, i.e. has it better shaped headphones, is there a camera for it with the same colours as the tanager (like the cam that comes with the spv), and what colour is it? i've seen pics with a kind of purple cover and onde with a silver cover, like the one at the infosync site.
