While connected to MSN Messenger but in standby, is there any chargable GPRS data at all? Also, someone said that the icon that appears alongside your name in someone elses messenger friends list changes to a telephone or something to signify you're connected via a mobile device.... is this correct?? :?:

There is an overhead to just being connected, although I believe it is very small.

If I take the plunge and buy the GPRS counter, i'll let you know exactly how much

I understand that 'All Locations' make a SmartPhone version.

It was on the Handango Co-Brand website, but was removed (presumably due to the ongoing signature problem!)

Well Im not too sure that you can run Pocket PC stuff on your smartphone... its not that simple... think about it... Your Pocket PC interface was built for use with a stylus! The Smartphone 2002 platform was built to be used with buttons on the fone! Its hard to do the same things... all they would have to do is re-programme a few things like the way the GUI works and you are sorted... but you cannot use the same software on the Smartphone 2002

In fact there is a software called ALL-Locations GPRS Traffic Counter v.3.0.11 for the Smartphone 2002 platform!

You can get more info on it from the All - Locations website

Here are some screen shots that you might find useful... Note this was one of the products available on Handango as of a few days ago before they were all taken off due to Application Signing issues {don't worry they will be back in a few days}. The price for this was $14.98 buy it its useful... also check out there ALL-Locations File Explorer software... to manage your Smartphones Data!

Title Screen:

Some of its menus:

It produces detailed graphs of usage:

Some cost calculations {Euros are shown but there is option to change to any other currency or number format}:

Yep - installation is a bit of a pain .. the cab file needs to be copied to the smartphone manually - via the AciveSync process.

Then you need to install it from the SPV. After installation it needs a (trial ?) registration code to enable it to work .. this can be obtained automatically by allowing the software to 'phone home' and transmitting details such as name, email address (maybe even the serial number of the smartphone) ?

But yes - it does work !

Hmmm...

I think that M$ and Orange have to work fast! If they don't fix the app signing problems hackers out there are gonna come in and crack the software and make it free for use... this would mean that the developers will lose out on their $200 investment into the App Sign!

To be honest... if theres NO other way of getting that software to run on the phone... I think hacking it is the only way!! I personally have very socialist views and strong beliefs in the p2p system and general sahring thing! So.. I wouldnt mind ! I feel sorry for the developers !

We have fixed the GPRS Traffic Counter and it does not loose it's traffic data anymore. The delay in releasing this version was because we had to wait for the digitally singing of our applications.

We have also fixed a problem regarding the activation of our ALL-explorer trial. It seemed that about 1 out of 50 activations had problems, which was very strange.

The latest versions of our applications will solve the problems, they can be downloaded from either:

www.handango.com/orange

mobile.handango.com/orange

or from the ALL-locations website (our site isn't SPV ready though).

There is also an exe install for our trial available now.

If you have any further questions please e-mail [email protected]

Kind Regards,

Pieter Huizinga
