I just got the Microsoft Mobile Developers newsletter, and look what I found in one of the sections: Download the free Smartphone SDK! The Windows Powered Smartphone was launched last month, and now the Software Developer Kit (SDK) is now available to all developers who would like to start building applications for this exciting new platform. The SDK contains all the APIs required for Smartphone application development, user interface design elements, control behaviour, navigation principals and full device emulation. Download the Smartphone SDK now. Ahh... but they forgot to mention that you can't actually run the applications until you get Orange's certificate (http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/64/28393.html)to run it! The actual SDK is only 45meg, but needs evc++ to run. eMbedded Visual Tools 3.0 Software Development Kit for Smartphone 2002 Are the links to the MSDN site for each of them. Understatement of the year ;) I've learnt C and Java, and hacked about in VB, javascript and assembler and it still looks very complicated to me. I think its because I've never done any Windows programming before and with lots of "hWnd's" and "WM_COMMAND's" flying about it looks very cryptic - you have to write a lot of code even to get a program started! One thing I'll say for Java; it's windows programming is a piece of p**s compared to Win CE's! Maybe one day I'll curl up with eVC and a good book...
