Guest Matt Kirby
Sounds like network congestion to me, the three beeps usually means that the local cell has reached it's capacity. Give it another go later, or phone Vodaphone Cust. Serv. If you can, try the Voda sim in another phone to see if you still get the same prob. Guest hampy
if i put the sim in my 3210 it is fine no probs at all
Guest Matt Kirby
 !! Hmm... So possibly not network congestion.... The three beeps means that the phone can't connect, usually due to lack of capacity. If it was something to do with the sim lock then (in theory) the phone wouldn't register with the network, and would not give you any reception. I think that I've drawn a blank on that one then. Anyone else?
Guest jakemuk
the phone maybe be blacklisted
Guest Matt Kirby
If it was blacklisted it wouldn't connect to any network and therefore would show as having reception on either Voda or Orange. Hampy: I assume that making calls on Orange is ok?
Guest hampy
blacklisted what does that mean hope i dunna sound thick
Guest hampy
how come i can access my remaining credit by typing *#1345# surely it wouldn't let me do that would it???
Guest Matt Kirby
Blacklisted phones are handsets that have been reported as stolen, thier serial numbers (IMEI) are passed to all networks and the network will not allow that handset to register itself for use. I doubt that you are in that situation though!
Guest hampy
errrrrr no it says network denied on orange but i am pretty sure the orange sim is dead the reason i unlocked it was to go on vodaphone as i have a working vodaphone sim
Guest Matt Kirby
Hmm... the plot thickens! Are you sure that the Orange sim is dead? Or could it be the SPV that is the problem?
Guest hampy
yup orange sim dead just tried it in my girlfriends phone and don't get any reception at all.

Guest Matt Kirby
Have you tried her sim in your SPV? Just to prove that the SPV can make calls on Orange.
Guest hampy
she is on t-mobile and it does the same on her sim but again gives me reception
Guest martin
if i put the sim in my 3210 it is fine no probs at all I take it that when you put the sim in the 3210 that you dialled the same number as the you did on the SPV.
Guest hampy
yes when the sim is in the spv and i try to ring it off my house phone it is as if the phone number is dead
Guest Matt Kirby
All I can suggest is that you try to test the SPV with an Orange sim that you know works. That will tell you if it's a general SPV problem or a sim lock problem. Sorry I can't be of any more help!
Guest hampy
ok cheers any one else any ideas
Guest martin
Have you tried ringing the SPV from your house phone ? Sound strange, but this will probably use different routing to the Vodaphone network for the call (from the BT network that is).
Guest hampy
yes have tried off the house phone and no connection
Guest martin
I would check Telephony in phone settings for anything that doesn't look right. Maybe change networks to manual. Strange one this...
Guest hampy
no joy with manual it will let me change call waiting and other settings and sends them to the network it will also let me download network settings
Guest martin
Your signalling to the Vodaphone network is OK if you have completed an IMSI attach i.e Vodaphone displayed and bars on the phone. Try and send a text message to someone. The SMS should also be carried across the signalling network. You could have a fault with traffic channel coding.
