Hi ponxman!

The .wav's and the .midi's that my SAP uses for ringtones and alerts are in the IPSM/Application Data/Sounds Folder. I encountered no problem with missing files in this set-up.

Try it!

Mabuhay!

@ponxman you placed the ringtone in the wrong folder....instead place your ringtones in IPSM/Application Data/Sounds Folder

If you dont have the Sound folder, just create one using Active Sync

make sure you created "Sounds", not "My Sounds".....inside Application Data Folder

then on your phone, click on Programs-->Settings-->Sounds, you should then be able to see the ringtones you placed in Ringtone for Line1, in fact you could see in in all fields including New SMS..

btw, ang alam ko kse .wav files lang ang pwede as ringtones? Not sure kung pwede midi files....anyone can confirm on this?

from www.smart.com.ph :

What ring tone formats are supported?

SMART Amazing Phone supports WAV and MIDI files. However, it may only support monophonic MIDI files and WAV files must be encoded using a PCM codec. You can use one of the conversion tools available on the web. Search for "MIDI to WAV" at www.msn.com for several applications that can assist with this.

Where do I copy the ring tones to on my phone?

From your PC, use ActiveSync's Explore icon to browse to My SmartphoneIPSMApplication DataSounds. If you don't see the Sounds folder in IPSMApplication Data, create it. These files can also be used for other alerts such as SMS, email, alarms, etc.

another option is, play the tune.while the tune is playing, press menu and choose save.mase-save yung tune automatically in the appropriate folder...which is the "sounds" folder.

its kinda surprising that the tanager doesn't support polyphonic tones (well neither does the canary)...

its just surprising.... everyone and their grandma seems to support polyphonic already (starting with the n7650 models upwards)

samsung seems to have the best polyphonic output (they use yamaaha boards if I'm not mistaken)

in theory, i think it's possible for the OS/ROM to be upgraded/patched to play polytones since the phone's hardware can support it. heck, it can play mp3, wma, wav files, it sure as hell can play polytones!

all they have to do is to incorporate a software wavetable synthesizer(yamaha, msft gs, etc.) in the next ROM update. it works for the PC, i think it would work for the SAP. unless the Smartphone 2K2 OS doesn't natively support wavetables. oh no!

hmmm... just thinking out loud. :D

@v3il why? I am surprised too that you prefer polyphonic than real music (.wav) tones? Nokias use polyphonic....simply because they are ONLY nokias

everyone and their grandma cant be compared to the smartphone.... IMHO polyphonic tones are inferior to wav ringtones.....why use only a yamaha keyboard when you can use all instruments? :D
