Yep, i've only heard good things about the Zalmans (except the weight of the full-copper one, nearly .5Kg!).

Should make short work of cooling my OC'ed 1700+. I got it running stable at 1.661GHz using a Thermaltake Volcano 7 HS and 2.6krpm fan @ ~50deg celcius. That was standard voltage (didnt want to risk upping that due to cooling issues).

I'd up it again (reset after flashing the latest BIOS onto my board), but my cpu has been 48-53 deg celcius idle since we've had this hotter weather :/ I'll wait a month or two and get the sweet cooler, then i can get OC'ing again

Yup it's true. Kinda.

5 secs (or a bit less) to LOAD WINDOWS from a hibernated state. Obviously this time doesn't inclue the bit before windows loads, POST, RAID setup etc.....

I barely ever start windows from cold nowerdays, winXP is stable enough for me to use it for weeks without the need for a proper restart.

This speed is mostly down to the RAID array I put in a few months ago, it's pretty funky. It does have a downside though. If one of the two drives dies I can't recover any of my data!

My get up is quite ancient now:

AMD Athlon 900MHz

Gigabyte Mobo (Unsure which) with RAID inbuilt

512MB NEC SDRAM

80GB IBM 7200RPM HDD

40GB IBM 7200RPM HDD

30GB IBM 7200RPM HDD

SB Live 5.1 Bulk

GeForce 2 GTS Pro 64MB

Studio PCTV

NEC 10/100Mbps card (From Uni times)

Hitatch CML174SXWB 17" TFT 16ms! (New - used to be crappy 17" Belinea crap)

52x LG CD-ROM

16x NEC DVD

24x10x32x LG CD-RW

ZIP-250 (Internal)

NEC Generic Floppy

MS Intellimouse Explorer Pro Wireless

MS Natural Multimedia Keyboard

Broadband Modem

Logitech Z640 Speakers

XP Pro SP1 in about 2 mins (From power button)

Its OK, but it does just about what I want it. Hoping to upgrade towards the end of summer up to a 3GHz P4, Zalman 7000 cooler and PSU, DVD±RW (Sony), Radeon9800Pro AIW, 2x160GB RAID0, SB Audigy 2, Sweet Aluminium case (Full Towers in steel are way too heavy!), Logitech MX700 (Ms is far too slow for me) and the keyboard from my old system (Just love natural goodness and the quick-keys). And yes, I am a PC based nutter! I have, for example, abot 300CDs, 200 of which are dedicated to single CD Movies (DivX). I'm truly a nutter!

Dell Smart PC 100N (laptop)

1.06GHz Intel Celeron M

256MB RAM

20GB HD

14.1" XGA TFT display

Integrated Intel 3D AGP gfx card (rubbish)

Internal Soundblaster compatible sound card (also rubbish)

External USB floppy drive (it doesn't have an internal, or a serial port for that matter...)

4x USB external CD writer (yes ok, I should really buy a new one!)

I've attached a pic of it when I had to take it apart when the keyboard completely failed... Not exactly what you expect with a Dell, but all that had happened was the keyboard connector had become unseated so I just had to wobble it around a bit.

ASUS A7V8X motherboard

512Mb DDR2700 RAM

Athlon 2800

30Gb HDD (looking to upgrade towards the end of the year to a 120Gb at least)

Radeon 9800 Pro

No sound card (on motherboard 5.1 dolby digital but only 2 speakers)

I'd love to have the PC set up with the surround system but as I have both a 5.1 TV and a seperate Amp and they take up the 10 speakers in the lounge 8)

Jabba, don't worry - I was only using the hammer to losen some of the screws... I'd never taken my laptop apart before so some of the screws were super tight. So to sort this out I hammered the screw driver lightly on the problem screws, and hey presto - problem solved!
