Guest glynton Posted September 30, 2003 Report Share Posted September 30, 2003 Does anything exist that will plug onto a 'Phono' input on a stereo and recieve bluetooth Audio signals from a Bluetooth enabled laptop? Its just I've sold my desktop in favour of a centrino laptop, and I want to go totally wirefree. I have a big bedroom, and the stereo is the other side of the room. I want to play my MP3s on my Laptop, but hear them through my stereo without using a stupidly long audio cable. Plus, when SPV2 goes bluetooth, it would be pretty cool to play your music through your stereo, whilst it's in your pocket. If you havent misunderstood, then I'm sorry, but what would WinAmp do? I thought they were illegal (still do actually) but what do I know? They're still for sale apparently. Dunno if you can connect one to a PC, but it might fit the bill. I'm not too up to scratch with it, but don't Bluetooth devices have specific Classes that determine what profiles are available? Also, would the current audio profiles support Stereo audio? I guess i'll have to read some white papers on the Bluetooth standard. It'd be interesting to know exactly how the Audio is transmitted. Would a Dongle or profile have to convert any output Audio into MP3 format then transmit? I doubt pure audio without compression would fit into the standard Bluetooth bandwidth. Advanced Audio Profile If you read the section on 'User Requirments and Senarios' and 'Audio Streaming - Send Audio - Recieve Audio' then it seems to me that the profiles/technologies are available to do this kind of job.
