As im bored on a saturday night and people do keep asking me why are you called beersoft? and i stumbled over this thread here
i thought it would be nice to tell the stories about our nicknames

my nick was thought up way back in '92 when I was doing a city and guilds in computer programming and wanted to put a name at the top of my latest creation, so during a pub lunch the idea struck beer + software = beersoft. it sounded a little stupid but so did microsoft. It kind of stuck as an online identity through the BBS days then  CIX and now the internet (and no laughing at the back, my hostname at demon has been around since '94).

thats my story, im sticking to it

now tell the world yours......

  • Interests:The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

I've always had a range of nicks most of which I didn't really like but could never figure out anything better.

I spose spacemonkey would mostly be from the movie Fight Club where the brainwashed troops of project mayhem are referred to as spacemonkeys, but I'm quite happy with the sound of it, so I think it'll be my nick for many years to come.

Like a monkey ready to be shot off into space. Spacemonkey. Ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

mine is boring also...

Just my name with the last letter taken off and it comes from my first PC logon back in the early 90's
(although caused problems in Scotland; they thought I was McWarren)

I used to be 'Trouserpod' on many sites, but it simply made me sound like some sort of deviant.

Mine comes from the Viz Profan-asorus (dictionary of rude/funny words); my surname is Butcher and there's an entry in there of "Crafty Butcher:  Someone who likes to slip their meat around the back" so it started as a joke with my mates.  Got shortened to just crafty which i kinda liked...
