GUYS,

have you noticed that addictmobile, smart regular and talk n txt have free dial up email accounts? here's how to do it:

to register grab your smart powered phone and send REGISTER to 409. just follow the instructions and don't forget a cool username.

once registered you can start using your email thru the net with this address. www.mailsmart.ph

to check you mail thru your SAP use this settings: but first you need to have the closest dial up number in your area and to request the list type NUMBERS and send to 409.

once you have the dial up number provided by smart, here we go:

-programs

-settings

-data connections

-menu

-edit connections

-dial-up connections

-menu

-add

::description : Smart Dial-up

::connects to : the internet

::country code : 63

::area code : 82 (supposing you are in davao city, or 2 if you are in manila, use the area code provided)

::phone number: 2280899 (supposing if your in davao again coz im from davao city)

::your user name provided by smart (dont forget to add the @addictmobile.com if your an addictmobile subscriber)

::password : your registered password

::domain : none

-done nth time

next:

-programs

-inbox

-menu

-options

-email setup

-next

-Name : your preferred name

-email address: complete email registered from smart

-server type: pop3

-incoming mail server/outgoing mail server : mail.addictmobile.com

-network : the internet

-username : complete username ex. [email protected]

-password : your registered password

-domain : not necessary

-check : save password

then off you go!!!

to check if there are any email on your inbox:

-programs

-menu

-send and receive email!!!

smart network will also notify you if you have a new email thru a text message!!

simply amazing.. and its free...

This is great, just one thing I noticed thou, after having my account setup on my SAP, as per smartscorpions detailed instruction, I tried to check on my mail and I've noticed that the connection it used was my GPRS and not the Dial-up I've created. Did I miss on something here? :-k

Correct me If I'm wrong, but if you wanted to utilized the Dial-up number provided, I think I should be somewhat like:

-programs

-settings

-data connections

-menu

-edit connections

-dial-up connections

-menu

-add

::description : Smart Dial-up

::connects to : My Corporate Network

::country code : 63

::area code : 82 (supposing you are in davao city, or 2 if you are in manila, use the area code provided)

::your user name provided by smart (dont forget to add the @addictmobile.com if your an addictmobile subscriber)

::password : your registered password

::domain : none

-done nth time

so Data Connection would look like:

Internet Connection

Smart GPRS

Work Connection

Smart Dial-up

WAP Coonection

Smart WAP GPRS

Secure WAP Connection

None Available

next:

-programs

-inbox

-menu

-options

-email setup

-next

-Name : your preferred name

-email address: complete email registered from smart

-server type: pop3

-incoming mail server/outgoing mail server : mail.addictmobile.com

if this is thru dial-up, does this mean we get charged for the call? yung "free" ba dito kasama yun? or yung mismong email acct lang yung free? just making sure, kasi alam naman natin ang smart... :lol:

i do not know about the charging of this but i guess its just the usage of gprs since when you connect its not the old wap like in the old days like in the 7110 of nokia but its utilizes gprs so therefore we have to pay for the gprs usage..

all the settings ive posted works on my amazing phone so theres nothing wrong..

for the prepaid subscribers i think it is also provided by smart coz i once tried accessing it in my smart buddy (old sim) it worked..

for the dial up numbers, smart will provide it thru sms, sorry, ive deleted the sms they've sent me... just type NUMBERS and send to 409..

its an additional feature in our smartphone, even though we dont have and ISP provider we can still utilize the email functions on our phone...

i have one question though in writing email on the SAP...

what key should i press so that there will be a gap between paragraphs?

like in the 7650 where in you triple press the zero (0) and arrow pointing down-left signifies just like the enter key in the keyboard.. so how do you do this using the SAP??

If it DOES charge for GPRS/dial-up, then it's no diff if u use yahoo or hotmail.

Tell me again, how is this free?

have you tried this setting ? did it work?

i doubt very much!...Work connection is for connection to a LAN network (as one would have in a workplace---corporate LAN or otherwise etc)

for mobile access to internet ---its should always be INTERNET ...

woooww!! nothing is free in this world of ours.. especially in this country!

we pay for the gprs usage just like when accessing our accounts in yahoo and hotmail but can you check directly your yahoo account thru the inbox in your SAP? i guess not you have to check it thru wap and not thru the internet explorer since it has framing on its html..

dial-up service is whats free in this additional service given by smart.. mostly we pay services in our ISP for a dial-up internet and in return of our payments they give us free email... duhh.... is there free if we pay for it..

money is what makes the world go round'
